Robinson is a "light weight", Hookie is the future and we need someone young coming through behind him.

As a Scarlets support it pains me to say that the appointment of N.Davies, is a backward step.

Well we won't have to 'push hard' that much, with a couple of bonus points we would have been well ahead of the west Wales outfits

I can't see any way the dragons wont be the bottom welsh region next year

even with the chuckle brothers of welsh rugby lyn jones and nigel davies in charge of the ospreys and scarlets or dai "i'm 5 years into my 3 year plan and still won nowt" young running the blues

"What performances have the Sgarlets offered up that you see them eyeing up the league next year? Or is it the appointment of their innovative, surprise new coach that fills you with confidence?"

nothing really, but any team that under performs as much as they did, usually come back the next time with a bit more fight in them... just look at the Wales squad.
Befoer you say it, yes I know Wales had Gatland, and the Scarlets are only getting Daies, but I think they will looking to put som silverware on the table next season, to try and amend for this year!
Im no scarlets fan (Osprey fan), its just an observation.

Next year I think it could be...
Opreys - Heiniken Cup
Blues - EDF
Scarlets - Magners
Dragons - top half of table

this is all just based on speculation of course. Just how I feel the Wlesh teams may do next year

Good squad.

Like to see Stoddard and Robinson have a chance at 15..Byrne is good but not the most intelligent.

9-10-12 is a headache.

I’m personally more worried about the 12 position. Henson was the defensive leader during the 6 nations. Parker just doesn't have the control of the game to run the defence, which will put more pressure on hook at 10 to run the game in defence and attack

the team as i believe it should be:
15-Jamie Roberts
14-Mark Jones
13-Tom Shanklin
12-Andrew Bishop
11-Shane Williams
10-James Hook
9-Cooper
8-Delve
7-Thomas
6-R.Jones (c)
5-AW.Jones
4.Gough
3.A.Jones
2.Hibbard
1.Jenkins

16.Rees
17.Duncan Jones
18.Evans
19.Dafydd Jones
20.Fury
21.S.Jones
22.Parker

Such a shame Lee thomas had to get himself banned, he could have been a great asset.
Havent seen much of fury, but Gatland and Howley obviously see something in him.
Gatlands coaching opinion obviously must be trusted, and howley, as one of the best no.9's of the modern era also knows what he is talking about.

Why should the Welsh clubs fare any better next year relative to the oppo?

Perhaps in the Anglo-Welsh because the England players will be withdrawn probably but then clubs like Newcastle are bringing in more foreign players to compensate.

In addition Worcester will be stronger with all their foreign players now arrived and with the development of the young players under the brilliant coaching of Ruddock.

Then there is Northampton who will be a stronger force than Leeds. A club incidentally that got to the Heineken Cup semis in the same year as being relegated.

Why the grounds for optimism?

llanelli have improved their sqaud no end

the ospreys have got rid of their underacehieving coach

the dragons also have brought in some good players and will improve (granted won;t win anything but will be better)

can;t say much about the blues improving yet but if they do bring a top class 3 and 9 in they will be better

All the premiership clubs are improving their squads as well.

And there will be a compound impact as a lot of the recruits last season did not show in the Anglo-Welsh tournament. Worcester for example did not get their overseas players until after the key matches against Welsh clubs.

It will be interesting.
