A Clear-out

Premier League Bolton Wanderers
comment on the article

Quoted from Bolton News

Up to 12 players could be shown the door at the Reebok.

El-Hadji Diouf, Abdoulaye Meite, Stelios, Heidar Helguson, Andranik and Daniel Braaten all look to have played their last game for the Whites.

Liverpool's Danny Guthrie, Mikel Alonso from Real Sociedad, and Southampton's Grzegorz Rasiak will return to their parent clubs after loan spells, though Guthrie, the 21-year-old midfielder, is being linked with a permanent £1.5million switch.

And the futures of the out-of-contract Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ricardo Gardner and Ivan Campo still remain unclear.

Talks are still ongoing but Megson has already admitted he wants to put his own stamp on the club after inheriting the majority of the squad from Sammy Lee's ill-fated reign.

Money will be made available to the manager - and funds will be further boosted after Wanderers managed to end the season in 16th, earning the club £3.6m in prize money.

Coupled with £4.6m of television income, and £15m from the sale of Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea in January, Megson will have a sizeable warchest at his disposal as Wanderers look for a return to the success which saw them finish in the top eight in the last four seasons.

I wonder if he is gonna clear himself out of the 'Bok

you should really sign guthrie looks quality,

what about ben haim back from us for next to nothing as the cb.

stephen ireland as the creativ midfielder

oyu could have sidwell too, im sure he can shout.

upfront, maybe crouch, gudjohnsen, bendtner, frazier campbell, or even ismael miller could do well

im think sinclair has outgrown the championship and should be movin up soon, maybe bolton on looan, he's skillful and got pace but isnt really a striker more a winger/second striker

Bolton's problem this summer will be that they can't compete money-wise with teams like Sunderland and probably some of the promoted teams too.

Pretty much everyone mentioned on this thread so far will probably go elsewhere because of money. I doubt the likes of Stephen Ireland and Steve Sidwell would want to take a pay-cut to move to Bolton.

Bolton's priorities have to be signing Danny Guthrie (real quality), and moving El-Hadji Diouf on.

That's going to be tricky, because I would be suprised if he wasn't the highest earner at Bolton. I don't see any English teams wanting to take him on, and I wouldn't be suprised if he is still at Bolton next season. His best bet is France, but he'll struggle to match his wages over there.

firstly i think megson should stay he has done a good job and deserves a full season and lets see what he does with some cash. right next are you all mad jussi is by far the best shot stopper in the premiership end of story this guy is the best keeper we could pray for give him whatever he wants he is still youngish compared to van der sar he is the back bone of the team. everyone else can go diouf included hes good but dosent fit with megsons plans. we need to sign a good defender ben haim would be a top signing again. if psg go down remember mendy he was a good quality player too. midfield sorry guthrie but we need class like sidwell or gera and lets talk turkey here rochemback amazing player had his best season ever and is a free siging megson get him now. on the wing get taylor playing left and sign stephen hunt from reading scores vital goals and is speedy. up front davies is good but imagine this replace davies with crouch and partner him with lita wow crouch does what davies does but returns 15-20 goals a season unlike davies and lita would score 10-15 a season if not more poaching in the box it would be like crouch and owen worked for england why not a simular partnership at bolton. we must have about 20 million to spend invest wisely megson cause remember maclaren is still out of work a few bad signings a bad start and october could be a long month on the dole que.

bohun Lynch -

How the hell can you describe someone of Danny Guthrie's ability "real quality"?
What is it you look for in a player?
If Bolton had any players of "real quality" they wouldn't have found themselves in a relegation dogfight, surviving by the skin of their teeth!! Would they?

"Bolton's problem this summer will be that they can't compete money-wise with teams like Sunderland and probably some of the promoted teams too."

We were paying Anelka upwards of 70k per week.

Unless Sunderland are paying that to Nyron Nosworthy and Andy Reid, I don't think we'll have a problem matching wages....

Andy Reid is on 70 grands a week worth of pies and the prices they charge nowadays that's a fair few quid. We surely can't compete with that now.

lets face facts yes we wont sign crespo or ay other world class players this summer but come on we got to the last 16 of the uefa cup same as spurs and everton last time out so i would say we are more attractive to most top premiership players then sunderland or any team in the bottom 8 as we nearly broke the top 4 just 18 months ago give megson time and money and we will be back mid-table in 12 months and in 2 years with the right plyers back in the uefa cup come on who would want to go to boro or sunderland has anybody been up there lately what a dump and the winters like scotland forigeners hate it ask juninho and ravenelli
