Pointless questions

Premier League Everton
comment on the article

Looking back it has been a hugely enjoyable season but before we look ahead. A few completely pointless questions to keep fellow toffees entertained for at least 2 minutes ...

1. If we had failed to get past the opening round of the UEFA, would we have been fresher, more injury free at the end of the season and been within reach of claiming 4th spot?
2. If Joleon had not been so badly fouled by Wright Philips in the Semi 1st leg (so badly effected that he scored an og) and we had ended up 1-1, would we have made the final.
3. If Mr Clutterbuck had refereed the Goodison derby in a gentle, fair fashion and say, it ended up 2-2, would the team still have played like men possessed and gone undefeated until Christmas.
4. Without losing players to the African Nations would we have done noticeably better?
5. If we had the choice, do we need a better players or more players (not both)
ie. is our current best team good enough if we have strong cover for injuries, or do we need to get rid of a few first teamers for more quality.
6. Will Everton ever be in a position when we can make say 7 changes from a Premiership match v Man United for a UEFA Cup match v Luton and still field a strong side.

I seriously doubt that this could ever happen - Luton in the UEFA?

No.

I think so, more than likely. Tho if the African cup wasn't on we definitely would have.

If not longer!

YES! Stupid idea to have it when it was.

No we have a good side, we just need depth to cover the inevitable injuries.

A mad 20 minutes in Florence cost us true greatness this season. It was pivotal. If we had come away from there with only a 1-0 defeat, we would have gone through and not been affected by the moral-sapping exit from Europe which showed so blatantly on our following league displays. We probably would have contested 4th until the final day of the season, perhaps clinching it.

Sorry, I should allow myself to think of more than one thing at a time - a Cup game v Luton sounds plausible; a UEFA Cup game sounds plausible ... but a UEFA Cup game v Luton ... what was I thinking of?

1. No
2. No Chelsea were better than us in both legs.
3. We were playing well anyway so I don't think it affected us that much.
4. Yes
5. We should always be looking for better players in every position.
6. Yes but that doesn't mean we will win the games.

1. Yes, or even 3rd.
2. Yes, we'd have went on to lift the Cup.
3. Yes.
4. Yes (refer answer to Q1 and Q2).
5. Better players but ones who give us a bigger squad.
6. Yes. We already are. We could bring in 2nd stringers like Baines, Hibbert, Gardner, Gravesen, Johnson, Anichebe and Manny after facing Man U with this XI: Howard: Neville, Yobo, Jagpot, Big Lezbo; Arteta, Ozzie, Harry Hill, Pienaar; Cahill; Big Black Yak.

I think if we'd got past Fiorentina, then won the round after that, and then went and run the round after and then had got in the final and beat the other team, we'd have won the UEFA cup.
