Hamilton has been exposed.

Formula One
comment on the article

He is too hard on his tyres, and this will work against him for the rest of his career. There will be many races where Mclaren will have to sacrifice race wins to make sure Hamilton finishes the race.

The great Jim Clark would have mocked the way Hamilton drives the car. The great Jim Clark was an artist behind the wheel and was the definition of smooth. He would wear all four tyres at an equal rate, and this could be seen at the end of the race. A tyre engineer who examined Jim Clark's tyres at the end of an F1 race couldn't explain how Jim Clark managed to go so fast and still look after his tyres so well.

Many other drivers were puzzled at how Jim Clark managed to go so fast while appearing as if he wasn't trying. That was the genius of Jim Clark.

I'm not saying Hamilton can't make his style smoother, but where he will struggle is keeping the same speed. Hamilton is not a genius, so he will have to sacrifice some speed to drive smoother.

Driving smoothly isn't an art; Anyone can do it. But driving smoothly and going super fast is an art, and Jim Clark was the ultimate artist. If Jim Clark hadn't died, he would have won 9 or 10 world chamionships; he was that good.

It's unfortunate that so many people today only talk about Senna and Schumacher as the greatest, but forget the genius of Jim Clark. Even the great Juan Manuel Fangio said that Jim Clark was the greatest.

Bridgestone's Hamashima

"Then we suggested a strategy of 20 laps, 18 laps, 20 laps, but finally they decided on a three-stop strategy."

radioactivekingkong (U7885976)- I think all that radiation has turned you into a monkey.

An article that attracts 163 responses is hardly in oblivion.

nope. I'm not shocked at LH moving to Switzerland to avoind paying UK taxes.

I'm disgusted that he justifed the move blaming the attention of the media.

antoniosignore (U9081983) - so in August 2007 he complained about the photographers spoiling his holiday.

At the end of October 2007 confirmed he is quitting England for Switzerland after revealing he is fed up with intrusion into his private life.

In May 2008 you are disgusted.

Lewis Hamilton is worth every penny he earns just for his ability to get the comical reactions from people like you.

I am thinking of writing a book about how Lewis Hamilton has succeeded in getting up the noses of silly people.

I can always do with more material so please feel free to help me out.

Enjoy Valentino dominance. Please tell you caraibic joke to take notes about what a CHAMP is.

There is no magic. Less television shows, less interviews, less talking and wins on the tracks.

To all you u LH fans, like all other british drivers there is too much of a hype about LH. Like JB and the rest, LH is not going to live up to the expectations. I doubt if he will win the championship this year or even come close to. Up until now,for this season, he has not done anything that makes him stand out amongst the rest. Seems like last year was a flash in the pan???? and probably was his best chance to win the championship.

I can only assume the poster is Scottish. Jim Clark was a great driver, but to try to make out that Lewis Hamilton is nothing special is just laughable.

Hamilton's achievements and number of wins in his short career don't lie. For an average driver who shreds tyres, he seems to have done awfully well for himself.

Sterling Moss has been extremely complimentary about LH, and rightly so. So has Jackie Stewart. I am sure if Jim Clark was still around he would be a vocal supporter and fan of Lewis Hamilton. But it seems these greats obviously do not have the formula one knowledge and expertise of a below average blogger on the beeb web site.
