Valiant $tan

Masters Series

What a week for Stan Wawrinka. His first Masters final and it pushes him into the top ten.

He put in some cracking performances throughout the tournament, and after taking control of the final against one of the young Serbians alas the efforts of the week took their toll. His tank went dry and his level dropped enough for his opponent to catch up.

Let's hope he can go on from here to bigger glories.

And thanks for the cash by the way $tan.

Then I will second that and I couldn't agree more Duggie.
Time will tell but there are so many inconsistent players out there right now it is sometimes hard to see who is the real deal. Sometimes we think we have found the next Federer then flop we are left frustrated time and time again and again

I have no doubt that Djoko will become #1 - I would welcome that more if he hadnt created such a poor "persona"

Hopefully he will improve with age and a touch more humility.

I am absolutely convinced he'll be #1 - and quite possibly in the not-too-distant future.

Rankings wise, the last week has been huge. Great week for Djokovic, poor on balance for Federer (stretching his advantage over Nadal, but a vast reduction in his lead over Djokovic)and potentially catastrophic for Nadal who now finds himself looking at a potential Hamburg semi against Djokovic where the winner will be #2 next week.

IMO he hasn't got a poor persona.
He is mature beyond his years. Is a popular player and very professional. You cannot ask for more than that really.
He certainly stands out from the crowd and his Tennis has the x factor.

Juno,
I tend to agree, his persona is such a breath of fresh air!

Juno and Nole,
Do you not object to the contempt with which he throws back his towel to the ball boy/girl? His only excuse may be that, had he been brought up with servants, he would know to be more gracious towards them.

His arrogant manner really puts me off, so much that I cannot enjoy his talent. He needs to go to finishing school... preferably in Switzerland.

Yiarylairen,
as for arrogance...some players' faces full of contept speak volumes, yet it does not stop me from enjoying their (his) game...

Nole,
Obviously you didn't get my point about manners.
Too late for you?

Spot on Andy #2 will be neck and neck during Hamburg and a lot is hanging on the performances in the next two slams. An early exit would really stir the pot.

Big pressure on all 3 of them over the next few weeks.

Nole he would do himself a power of good if he would just water it down a bit.

Instead of "expecting" to win RG, maybe "my ambition" is to win, would come across better ?

He was upset about MC criticisms but the perceptions have been created by him and his track record.

I sincerely hope he will learn to moderate - he obviously does listen as the ball bouncing has reduced to normal levels recently.

I think he has the potential to be a great champ - and would love to see him admired for his dignity as much as his play.
