oohgravy (U8387406) posted May 11, 2008 Perhaps Mr. Penny should wait until the end of the game before blowing a kiss to the Saints fans, as he did after his try yesterday. Thats one of the reasons the Saints fans continued to get on his back, and his lack of concentration then cost Warrington a soft try. But he's young and he will learn (hopefully for Englands/GB's sake)...

getdownmonkeyman (U2090788) posted May 11, 2008 elsieb, Warrington's non-existent defence lost us the game, not Penny's ball handling. Don't get me wrong, that carry from his own line was poor, but the whole defebsive 'strucuture' is poor. Our try line defence is atrocious.

HammerheadSaint (U9746917) posted May 11, 2008 Penny is clearly a mixed blessing. He is a great attacking winger, very elusive, and great to watch in full flight. Unfortunately he too often gets ahead of his centre, giving King the option of keeping hold of the ball or giving a forward pass. In the late stages of yesterday's game exactly this happened, and King, wisely, retained the ball, and a try scoring possibility went begging. Two weeks ago King got away with three forward passes, one for each of Penny's three tries against Saints. He got away with those, but I'm sure King, and Cullen, would prefer it if Penny held back a couple of yards, so that King doesn't have to make that choice.

hyperGoathead (U11927878) posted May 11, 2008 St's / Wolves game yesterday was superb. Only one real prob. I think 4 of the tries were from forward passes. What is all that about? Even the commentators seemed to conveniently not mention it too much or skip it. Clearly on replay about 4/5 of those tries should have been disallowed. Are we compromising skill and rules just to create points, excitment and/or debate?

smitto (U10221594) posted May 11, 2008 I really felt for young Penny but it was a sloppy carry in that position, however his defence was not bad, certainly not as p**s poor as Lee Briers pathetic attempts, talk about not putting your body on the line !!, I thought the loss of Paul Johnson was the biggest blow to Warringtons chances he was running riot and odds on for MOM just hope his injury is not too serious it looked pretty bad though, it was a fantastic game of Rugby League and you have to hand it to Saints they know the way to win a close game.

LutherDream2004 (U1217063) posted May 11, 2008 Fantastic game but we gifted Saints 3 tries. Everything that they got was off our errors including Penny's. A bit more concentration all round and we'll be right!

Frenchwire (U8933828) posted May 11, 2008 With the Penny thing, the lad will get better in defence but we need something now. Hopefully Johnson's injury is not serious as he was having a good game against Saints then maybe the coach could have him in the centre and King outside him, in the position he played in Melbourne with great success, and maybe he would even get the ball. He has the build, pace and strength to be a second JB. King has been restricted in playing nursemaid to a player who will eventually come good, class players don't go crap overnight it's how they are used. With luck based on yesterdays performance if we can maintain it we should get in the play off's. Got to say Chris Hicks must have been an inspired signing as he is one hell of a good player? Obviously nothing to do with Cullen. Comment on this article
