Andrew Flintoff - more injury woes

England

With another injury set to rule him out of the New Zealand tests, the pessimists will again come out to suggest that England shall never see the same Andrew Flintoff that won the Ashes in 2005.

The injury is a pity as it seemed he was building up some great form with the ball. When he is fit, who will drop out of the side to make way? A batsman (Strauss) or a bowler (Broad, Anderson or Panesar).

England need Andrew Flintoff, their talisman. Flintoff is the one person who not only symbolises English cricket but is able to pull other sports fans in. We still lie in wait for his return and still dream...

hmm doubt that, the only runs he had was 96 in one game and lees figures were 2-48 doubt he smashed all over the park.

i expect England to win but will be shocked with how close it will be. New zealand have been competitive so far and I expect that to happen against England as well. England will have to bat new zealand out of the game.

this injury to the English media hype, that is Flintoff, was only expected. we now know that langers opinion really counts for nothing. just a week ago langer said that Flintoff was the best international bowler he faced. too bad he does not play international cricket now.
mabye chumbawamba, dingfloyd and the others will stop salivating everytime an aussie pays them a compliment now.

Building up some great form, yes, but not match fit. This is why he could not have been risked in a Test in a 4-man attack because the danger of him breaking down was too great.

He needs probably two months of solid cricket to get some match fitness back, otherwise he'll never see out a Test.

A great cricketer? Undoubtedly. A man who symbolises English cricket? I hope not, unless a drunken oaf on or off the field is what you're looking for. With Steve Waugh's determination and work ethic he could just have surpassed Botham. Instead he has managed himself and his talent appallingly. His best years have gone. Accept it.

I have to agree, I seriously think we may have seen the last of the Andrew Flintoff we know. Pessimist I may be, but If we see him in the team again I doubt very much that it will be the same Freddy we remember, and it won't be very long.
