Masters Series

So Murray loses yet again in the 1st or 2nd round what is wrong with him ?

Probably quite a lot really, for starters :

Poor temparement
Impossible to manage thus Brad Gilbert departing
No tactical acumen
Too defensive and negative
Injury prone

He has no more chance of winning a grand slam than Scotland have of winning the World Cup.

Tennis singles in the UK has now got as low as it can ever get yet the East European countries now grow tennis stars on trees rather like the West Indies used to with fast bowlers.

What is wrong with sport in the United Kingdom.

I dont think anyone is asking him to be a "saint" - just grow up and stop throwing his toys out of his pram. Can you not see that AM is his own worst enemy. He doesnt need an oponent. However much tennis talent he has will count for nothing unless he gets his "head" right.. that is where his matches will be won and lost.I believe this to be a constructive criticism.

Spot on, Deecoco. Some of us, myself included, are making too many excuses for him and I have to say that he is just not delivering.Sport at the highest level relies upon a strong mental attitude and he is showing little sign of this. Another tournament, another early exit is just not good enough. Come on AM - step up to the plate!

To underachieve you have to have the platform and game which makes it clear that your potential warrants great things. Federer is the best to have played tennis in my opinion and Nadal is a beast who plays the pain game in overcome opponents and doesn't have the all round game. Murray is not a physical specimen and his game has no weak points besides that but soemtimes he lacks the tactical acumen. So in my opinion only Djokovic that is better than Murray without having a superbly better game. In my opinion if Murray is not top 6 in a year then maybe we can talk about underachieving. Lets not go abck to the rubbish when henman was around who was a limited player compared to the big names. Average power in serve and grounstrokes and a very good grass court game. Occasionally he bottled it but this was because mentally he was always strong to compete with the big guys. So when he was off slightly everyone just said he bottled it. Murray has a better all round game but whos to say he's the next big thing. His game is no better than most in the top ten.

To be honest i don't think his temper is as bad as it was before. Andy just isn't on form at the moment and he isn't exactly very old so there's plenty of time to grow and become a better player, people get pre-occupied by comparing him with nadal and djokovic because they are similar ages but they are just better players at the moment. Another thing i always found confusing is when people get on his back about losing in the first and second rounds. I'm not sure about him but if i was a player in that position i would be more concerned with my game, and frankly couldn't care less about the criticism from the public.

O please, you dont have to compare him with Djoko or Nadal for JC sake If you want compare then compare him with Becker, Borg even "paddy" McEnroe. How the dickens will he ever win Grand Slams with the temperament he has.. and before you tell me Borg was like that yes he was BEFORE he turned professional. Im sick of hearing excuses for him.. if he can play tennis.. then SHOW US how good he is.. I am yet to be convinced. Let me tell you that Nadal is not unique in Spain the Spanish youngsters are much more mature than Brits and Nadal is a credit to his nation

It's a debate, there is more than one side <OK> He has shown plenty of promise in the past and im sure he'll deliver at some point in the future. Although, IMO splitting with Brad Gilbert was the silliest thing he could possibly do.

Yeah what a terrible decision.

Best thing Murray done was getting out of that partnership with Gilbert.

The two just clashed and Murray has been on the rise ever since.

The comment everyone is replying to is almost a year old. (You may know this but the person who wrote it probably doesn't have the same opinion anymore.)
