SPL 18 teams play each other twice only 34 games
Top 6 from Div 1 make up the 18
Remaining teams in Div 1 Div 2 & Div3 split equally into new championship 1 & 2
Bottom 2 of SPL automatically demoted 3 rd bottom play off 3rd top of Champ 1
Champ 1 & 2 similar promotion & demotion but 1 up 1 down plus play off's for 2nd top Champ 2 v 2nd bottom Champ 1
League Cup keep teams with European games out of 1st round
keep Challenge Cup for lower two leagues
Scottish Cup untouched
More free fixture dates to postpone matches/ prepare for national and european games.
Not waterproof but up for debate !

sorry Killie Jimbo, i think you are on the wrong site. this is actually a debate surrounding european football and the top six trying to win the league and next years european places. you seem to have got lost.
try typing in "also ran" in the search box at the top of the page.
who's beating you this weekend?

to sullimac.
i love it.... a celtic fan now applauding celtics abject failure back in the seville year.
let me be clear, i never mentioned league games, as no matter how you are doing, you play them all regardless. I was commenting on cup ties, where when you are out, you are out.

Do you really think that anyone thinks that celtic played less league games than anyone else.

Back then the celtic banners said "we'll be in seville, you'll be watching the bill"

next week the rangers fans banners will say "we are in manchester, and you aren't!"

BRILLIANT

Is it my imagination or have Rangers FC only really started whinging since they didn't beat Hibs on Sunday? Zenit's season is only a few games in and they have no fixture backlog. If Rangers don't win the UEFA Cup it will be everyones fault but theirs.

As an Everton fan I'm jealous of the fact that it's Rangers and not us in the final, having been unlucky against Fiorentina. However I wish them the best of luck but also wish they and their fans would shut up whinging about the difficulties of success. It's the same when clubs whinge about the African cup of nations taking away their best players, well them's the breaks. If you can afford to buy the best players, or afford to have a squad which can manage to succesfully compete in 4 competitions for four seasons ( hats off to Rangers for doing so) then you should be grateful for what you've got as opposed to whinging about how everyone else isn't bending over backwards to accomodate your path for glory.
Good luck in Manchester, and see if you can return the toys to the pram on the way back.

Of course Georgie Boy has to make some comment.

He probably thinks it might help avoid Rangers throwing their teddy bears out the pram and suddenly deciding that half their players are injured before a midweek international, but making a miraculous recovery for Saturday.

Err. Haven't we been here before?

And "We're In Manchester,
And you aren't"

Great rhyme mate. Great rhyme. Keep working at it. I think you'll find there's an extra n't in there.
NT for Numptie Tssr perhaps

Davie2610, you are 90% of the reason why most non-rangers fans hope you get gubbed in all competitions.

For the record, I shouted louder than my rangers supporting mate when Novo scored the winning penalty vs Fiorentina. Also for the record, if you lose every competition it's muppets like you who make it all the more satisfying.

Although being a Rangers supporter I will take any advantage I can, it would be unfair and ruin the integrity of the league if we were shown favouratism by the SPL at this crucial stage. I know for sure that if Celtic were in the same position and given any help, I would feel a severe injustice.

There is a simple solution, drop european teams out of the CIS Cup, there is an element of greed here, if you want to win all 4 trophies then you have to play all the games. If you haven't got a big enough squad then common sense dictates you have to prioritise. The UEFA cup is a rare opportunity for Rangers, The CIS and Scottish cups are not. This is in my opinion self inflicted.
