Davidson and Sato

Formula One
comment on the article

After the Super Aguri team withdrew from the Formula One world championship due to a lack of funding, what will now happen to the 2 drivers from the team

1. Anthony Davidson
2. Takumo Sato

Do you think either of these 2 drivers will have places within the Formula One grid next season.

Personally, I think that Davidson is a very talented driver, and I think that he could get a race driver with a team towards the bottom (Force India, Toro Rosso), or maybe become a third driver for a team (Red Bull, Honda, Williams)

But I think Sato will struggle to find a drive next season, and I think he could retire from Formula One.

What do you think will happen to these 2 drivers, will they have team places next season or not

Firstly on the drivers comment, i know davidson is a great driver but to be honest i would rate sato higher. He is one of those guys who when the front drivers like ferrari and maclaren see him, they know its not going to be a easy task. Hes a superb driver and holds more of a threat than Davidson just doesnt seem to have that same un-dying enthusiasm that sato does to tempt his way into doing gutsy drives. I think if Sato got the chance to shine in a decent car, he would be looking at challenging someone like Kubica in my opinion. Perhaps being a close second to Kubica.

As for the Hamilton thing, come on guys, its all media spin, none of his fault and you can tell hes a typical english innocent , he tries to make the best out of what he can and give the fans something to watch, if you call that smug then your clearly miss reading the sport.

Overall i think neither will get a drive seat unless someone like Nakijima is dropped, to be honest Nakijima seems more of a liability to the other drives lives lol.
I am surprised this year by some of the choices by the teams to have as their drivers, ii cant see things changing all that much though, so i would see both getting a testing seat or dropped from F1

Thanks

Sato is seen as a bit of a loose cannon, great fun but a little out of control and I fear this marks the end of his F1 career. Davidson has I believe impressed people in the paddock both with his attitude and his gutsy performances, if not with his luck! Piquet has been unimpressive so far this year, and Sutil has struggled (although probably not all his fault), while Bourdais still has to prove himself and I think Davidson compares favourably to all of these at present. His real problem is that unless something very major happens there is no drive of any sort in F1 before next season and he needs something to keep him ticking over.

Sato comprehensively out preformed davidson last season leading him 12 - 5 in races and fastest laps, yes davidson out qualified sato but its your position at the end of the weekend that counts not the beginning of it.

This season davidson just leads it by 2 races to 1 but his highest position finish is 15th with satos 13th. So in my opinion he has not done enough this season to suggest he is better than sato.

Both drivers are probably not quite good enough for F1 and with nakajima around there is no pressure for honda to keep a japanese driver in the sport.

I would expect both drivers to be testers at best from now on, or maybe even to try their hands at other series.

I don't know how good Davidson is because I don't know how good Sato is.
On top of that we don't know exactly how slow that SA was, did they do a good job with a bad car or a bad job with a good car.
Untill one of them get's a good race seat we wont know.

I'm hoping Paul Stodart is mustering some cash to sort out a resue deal before the end of the season.

Well i suppose even if we ended up with an Ambramovich, it would push them forward but atleast not as extreamly as the football smiley
You never know, same could of been said for spyker, i have the feeling Super Aguri perhaps backed out while they had some cash, waiting for perhaps a investment rather than do a spyker which is carry on whatever, lucky for spyker along came Vijay Mallya smiley Who knows i think they could make an appearance perhaps rebranded like spyker/force india

they are nothing, useless, not a factor.

Retirement and get lost.

how can you say that, its like a football team getting relegated, for a new team in the premiership it is always so hard as there is barley any wins and loads of losses, there isnt the money to get the good players (cars) and so it is a nasty battle to avoid it. They clearly just didnt have enough money, if someone like Abramovich did get behind them, expect them in the mid pack within 1 - 2 seasons i would say. Sport is fueled by money, until you have enough you will not be able to put out a strong enough car to battle with the other cars that have plenty of money.

Chin up AD. Forget F1.British drivers are always poorly backed and supported.
If Honda dont take you back as a resevre driver then head west to the good ole US of A.
You could have a long career over their earning big bucks. Your still young so time is on your side. Sebastion B cleaned up over their, but is hardly setting f1 alight.
Move now to a top team and enjoy life...

Davidson is a nice guy, but he isn't a very good racer. I'am sure he will be a good tester for some team.

Sato on the other hand might very well just replace Barrichello at Honda. However, if I was Honda I would rather try to get someone like Bourdais or even Alonso. But Sato might even perhaps be a good replacement for Sutil at Force India.
