Hasselbaink to retire?

Championship Cardiff City
comment on the article

It appears that Jones has decided that he can't have both Fowler and Jimmy in the same team and given the recent noises he's made about Fowler being able to give us 20 goals next season it seems that Jimmy is going to be shown the door.
I think that an FA Cup final is a good way for him to bow out, he's 36 and has given us some very good performances this season.
The way he moved about the pitch on Sunday I can really see him being a handful for the Pompey defence in the final and with Parry tearing about the place I really think that we stand a hell of a good chance to cause them problems.

agreed there are players (certainly 2 strikers) who I'd gladly see the back of before JFH goes - but paying him £15k or whatever it is per week to be a squad member and bring on the youngsters? Wages that could surely be better spent elsewhere maybe?

Same goes for Fowler if I'm honest - if we lose the pair of them then where as you would lose the undoubted class the pair have/had - you would also free up a large chunk of the wage bill?

Didn't we try the same with Kevin Campbell a couple of seasons ago? Paid him a wedge to bring on the youngsters - but when he actually played he was dire?

Just don't want to go down that road again if it can be helped.

yep someone has mentioned on here before that Dave Jones strikers have been dire except for Chopra, they all seem to be to old, but i believe if Fowler is fit next year and we get a striker with bags of pace he will score goals, i also think we should sing Steve Howard

Howard would do a job - I'll agree with you there lawthom.

Buy him and get Sam Vokes from Bournemouth. 18 years, bags of promise, bags of pace and hopefully bags of goals.

In my opinion, Hasselbaink should have one more season. I think it's a bit stupid, people always talking about how Robbie Fowler ' has something to prove' and that he would to better for us..... all wrong.

Jimmy has scored some brilliant goals and makes more key passes, overall, he's the better player, he's 36, Fowler is 33, yet Hasselbaink still seems to run more, and put much more effort in. Fowler scored 6 in 13 games, 3 of those were penalties, which weren't won by him...

Jimmyyyy Floyyddd Hasselbaaainkkk

Just glad as a Chelsea fan that JFH is still loved by the fans of who he plays for, what a fantastic player. Give him another season
