I think the final was in a way ... typical final. Days 16-17, both players tired and tense and a kind of anticlimax as compared to two extraordinary semis that had raised lots of expectations.
For me the height of this tounament was the Hendry-ROS semi. Hendry finally showing some form and a formidable battling spirit to get so far. ROS consistent, considerate and focussed on playing matches, not exhibition. Lot's of respect from both sides before the match. Lot's of praise from both sides after the match. ROS serving Hendry his very best game, what better mark of respect could he give him. And some really dazzling stuff in the second session! Great sporting rivalery between very different kind of animals ... the artist and the warrior! And as many pointed out a lot of tense close matches and two outstanding maxis!
Low of the tournament? Maguire not giving Perry enough respect? Selby crashing out without glory in first round? Ding not showing up against Hendry? ... I can't make my mind.

Ronnie wiped the floor against all his opponent at thyears championship but which player did well against him most? I felt Liang Wenbo came the closest. If Ronnie werent there Wenbo might have reached the final and I would have fancied his chance against Ali Carter.

Worst moment, Ronnie's perfgormance against Lui Chuang. The streaker, why cant we have a female streaker?

Carter appeared to be like a rabbit caught in headlights, it's understandable being his first final though I guess, but it was never in doubt for Ronnie. A Hendry Vs O'Sullivan final would have been brilliant!

My favourite moment was definitely Liang Wenbo celebrating victory too early at 12-10 and losing the frame then not learning from his mistake and doing it yet again at 12-12 before frame ball had been potted. That was absolutely classic and he's a star.

Worst moment was probably the final. I mean Carter was out of his depth before it even started so from that angle probably the worst moment was when Mark Selby lost to Mark King which he should never have done in a million years. Also miserable Joe Swail being a scowling sore loser throughout his match with Wenbo. I was so happy when he lost!

The highs were, of course, the 147s. How long before we get a 155 I wonder?

I must also praise the excellent coverage on BBC TV. It was great to have the interactive option in the earlier rounds and Hawkeye is a great innovation. Is it my imagination or did they use more action replays this year?

Having said all that someone should tell Willie Thorne that he'd be twice as good if he said half as much while commentating - he can be a little too verbose as times. And Clive Everton does have a tone of voice of a man who thinks he can play snooker better than the boys on the baize.

No real lows other than the disappointing final and wondering how to pass the time now there's no snooker on TV until the UK Championship!

O'sullivan won the world championship without playing one player from the top five,and in the final played against a very weary Carter after his semi final marathon, Carters worst performance this year.This final was like the Dott-Ebdon final after Ebdons semi marathon against Fu. I think both players should have a day off before the final, its only fair to the paying public.

Just come back from holiday and would like to congratulate Osullivan. I have spent many hours on here making my feelings clear about what I think of him as a person, but credit when its due. He is the best player in the game and deserved to be world champion for the third time. Well done to Ronnie.
