Collymore to join Sussex

Sussex
comment on the article

Sussex have added extra firepower to their attack by signing West Indies seam bowler Corey Collymore, subject to clearance by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

He doesn't have express pace, but is capable of moving the ball both ways off the pitch and is ranked 11th in the Test bowling list, even though he hasn't played for the Windies since last summer's tour to England.

With Mushtaq Ahmed currently sidelined by injury, is he the man to put some zip into Sussex's bid for another Championship title after starting the season with three draws?

Tell us what you think.

Agree with mixed feelings on this one. Made to look less than average at test level. But who knows. If Pedro Collins can take wickets then surely Collymore will be able to! Sussex's seam attack does look weaker without Rana this season. Liddle is appalling, and Kirtley and Lewry haven't been firing on all cylinders yet. Best of luck to him though.
I do think however we should go back to having two oversea's players and getting rid of these ridiculous Kolpak signings. You look at the Kent team we lost to at the weekend,- Mahmood, Arafat, Kemp, van Jaarsveld and McLaren. Thats 5 overseas players in my opinion. Overseas players are there to raise the profile of the county championship and influence the development of players in England. The ECB should stop accommodating South Africans and West Indians who are not good enough to get into their national sides, as that is what is having the most detrimental effect on the development of English players...

Good signing. It's a long, hard season and we need the depth if we want to stay up, let alone challenge.

Let's not be too proud either - the bubble will burst one day, so reflect on this special team and this special winning period.

As for England...charity starts at home. Susses first, England second. Don't forget all the snidey comments about Moores and his "favouritsm" every time he picks a Sussex player - Championship over the Ashes any day.

Oh, and Yorkie - "you'd be better off with Stan.....".

I'd personally have Corey over Stan - a player that can beat the bat is more helpful than a player that beats his woman. Being a yorkshireman I can guess your preference.

Has Collymore bowled at Hove before? Hove is such a FLAT track for medium pacers, to throw him in, in a 50 over game, seems a bit odd? And asking Rayner to bat at 3, was this punishment for going at 8 an over! I think Adams is losing it myself, Sussex's recent success' depended on Goodwin & Mushie, let Adams go to the Tykes I say.

You're a simple wum - if this is how you get your kicks, then good luck to you mate.

I just feel fortunate to be Sussex born and bred, having had the chance to follow a team that's been the best in England for the last 5 years. Moores, Yardy, Adams, Wright, Kirtley, Prior - all contributing to our England side. Great times.
