Getting promoted and staying up are no simple tricks (said as an envious Southampton fan). And even if he spent some money and wants to spend more, the great thing is people are coming to games--Sunderland are fifth in attendance. I wouldn't bet against Sunderland being fifth in the league in 2-3 years.
