Current Squad - Stay or Go?

Premier League Sunderland
comment on the article

We all know Keano is going to wield his axe in the summer, and after the Bolton performance it would be justified! So who is good enough to take us forward and who should leave in the summer?

Goal-Keepers:

Gordon - Keep (Quality)
Ward - Leave (Too old)
Fulop - Keep (Solid back up)
Carson - Keep (Youngster)

Defenders:

Halford - Leave
Harte - Leave (Past it)
Nosworthy - Keep (Good quality sub for next season)
McShane - Leave (Championship at best)
Higginbotham - Keep (Not bad for back up)
Collins - Keep (Solid)
Anderson - Leave
M'voto - Keep (Youngster)
Bardsley - Keep (future captain)
Varga - Leave (past it)

Midfielders:

Ethuhu - Keep (Good sub for adding presence and closing games out)
Edwards - Keep (Great back up but needs replacing)
Whitehead - Leave (Not Prem quality anymore)
Richardson - Keep
Miller - Leave
Leadbitter - Keep
Yorke - Keep (Coaching role)
Reid - Keep
Kavanagh - Leave
Wallace - Keep

Strikers:

Stokes - Keep
Murphy - Keep
Chopra - Keep
Jones - Keep
Cole - Leave
O'Donovan - Keep
Connolly - Leave
Prica - Keep

So out of a squad of 32 i'd keep 21 of them and send 11 of them packing. We have to add some serious quality in the Summer!

Goal-Keepers:
Ward - Leave (Too old)

Defenders:
Halford - Leave (Not the player he was when at colchester)
Harte - Leave (Past it)
McShane - Leave (a headless chicken doesnt belong on the football pitch)
Anderson - Leave (if he can get past injuries potentially a good back up but will prob go back to scotland)
Varga - Leave (past it)

Midfielders:
Miller - I'd like to keep but will prob go
Leadbitter - Leave (Not prem quality)
Kavanagh - Leave (Past it)
Wallace - Leave (We have reid and richardson so get as much cash for him as we can)

Strikers:
Stokes - Leave (doesnt have the right attitude)
Murphy - Leave (some skill but way too lazy)
Connolly - Leave (Too old for prem)

I think keeping gordon is the main. I think you would struggle to find better than him.

How long can you hold onto him for? Eventually he is goin to move up, hes 25 and will want to win big.

Carlos Cuellar for Sunderland? You're having a laugh aren't you?

This guy is far better than Boumsong and he went for £8m a couple of seasons back. We don't need to sell (our chairman may think otherwise). I seriously don't think you could afford King Carlos. You'd need to pay more than you did for Gordon!

I'd sign David Coulthard

I cant see Carlos Cueller leaving rangers this season. He has been a vital part of the defence and I cant see walter Smith letting him go without a fight

What do you mean "may think otherwise" you know as well as anybody that greedy Murray will take any bag of gold offered

Though some of his signings haven't worked out, Keane deserves all faith. Getting promoted and staying up are no simple tricks (said as an envious Southampton fan). And even if he spent some money and wants to spend more, the great thing is people are coming to games--Sunderland are fifth in attendance. I wouldn't bet against Sunderland being fifth in the league in 2-3 years.

I couldn't believe my eyes on Saturday when, just after half time Jonny Evans clearly pulled his right thigh muscle. For the next 10 mins or so he launched 1 long ball and winced like mad, otherwise he played it short to Higginbottom. He was trying to avoid getting the ball and kept rubbing his thigh.61 mins, idiot Keane makes 3 changes but not Evans.62 mins, with all the subs on Evans calls over to Keane and says his leg has gone.Keane responds with a "why didn't you tell me" gesture. If that is professional management of a Premier League club then you can keep it.When will this psycho blow his top? It's coming and soon.

----------------------

He's teaching the lad a lesson, which will help him in the future. He's teaching him to tell when he's injured, important lesson.

Keane's also just giving everyone a wake up and telling them that the summers coming and if you want to stay show what you can do.

His buys have been generally very good considering no one wanted to come join sunderland, and remember that jones was almost unheard of till he bought him.

He is getting things ready for next year and he plans to be ambitious. If we can play like we did at the end of the season up till we secured relegation for the whole season we could do well.
