play-offs again

Championship Watford
comment on the article

Despite Darius leaving us with 10 men for the second half luckily Smithy saved the day (and made Amy's day)Hi Ames!!! and watford fans all over the world can look forward to more rivetting stuff from the golden boys. Will the underdogs earn a totally undeserved place in the Premiership? Nothing is impossible and the shock might lead to some positive changes - like attracting better players/manager to the club, for instance. Prehaps a whiff of money to be made will motivate present incumbents. All-in-all an interesting few weeks ensue. Unless the powers-that-be really don't want WFC to go up!! Do you?

Ipswich fan in peace.
You are my bet for the play-offs lads,I know that there are some out there that knock you style of football but its a jealous thing, people who say "I would rather lose each wqeek and play pretty football than win ugly" are clearly liars.
Away from home this year we were playing nice football but couldnt win till after xmas.
Had we of played route 1 football during that time then we could of got that extra point or 2 that would of got us in the play-offs.

Good luck and maybe see you in two years time, hopefully in the Prem

I like Ipswich fans, they know what they're talking about......
but I will say Blueydeepdown, if you was thinking of putting money on your bet for the play-offs I would say don't bother and save yourself a fiver. Things need to change and change quick for us to have a hope in hell of beating Hull, let alone winning the thing!

If Hull are as poor against you next sat as they were against us today then you will be fine.
I really thought they would come at us from the 1st whistle but seems they bottled it as it was prob the biggest game in their history.

Sat will be a huge game for them and I reckon you will do them.

Im so confident Im off to the bookies in the morning to have a 10p bet on you, dont tell the missus thou as its her housekeeping money winkeye

10p for the housekeeping?
My missus asked me what I am getting her for her birthday. I said "you know that shower you had today & that food in the cupboard?".....
"Oh and the mortgage on this house?"......
"Well I paid for that!".... "Happy Birthday Love"

Well it's good to see you are confident.
I wish I shared that confidence with you, we need a bloody miracle.

I really hope for the sake of the Premiership that Watford don't make it.

Hull deserve that place based on the season's performances.

If Watford get through then you'll have played well over two games. But once in the Prem you'll be another Derby. Bend over.......winkeye

"Hull deserve that place based on the season's performances. "

Funny that, because the table says that Hull lost more games than Watford over the season? :p

Been a Watford fan for over 25 years.. but to be honest don't think we deserve to be on the playoffs. But now we are.. have as much chance as anyone.

'for the sake of the Premiership'

What are you on?

The Premiership is a flawed 'competition' where only 4 teams (possibly only 2) can win it. It is a collection of mini-leagues of which we would join the third tier - i.e. the bottom 5-8 teams each year whose holy grail is 17th spot. We have as much right to play in that as anyone who gets promoted from the Championship.

As for Hull. They finished 3rd, so what? 3rd guarantees you nothing but a ticket to ride in the playoffs.

Next time write something sensible...

To be honest, I think our form going into the play-offs might give us an edge. Deep down Hull will be thinking they have an easy tie. I wouldn't be surprised if we beat Hull 2-0 in the first leg!

Well at least we weren't a Derby last time (28 points, could have been more) but this feels so different to two years ago it's almost on another planet. Last time we played an exciting attacking game for the most part scoring heaps of goals with Marlon, Darius, Ash (and cameo from Bouazza). We could play good football when we put our mind to it as well. Like in 1999 the momentum seemed to be with us in the play-offs (whereas now it's with Palace). We stood a chance of making it in the Prem the other year because we could score goals. It was pure joy.

Two years on and only Hendo remains. A couple of admirable exceptions like Smith apart, Boothroyd and the team seem to have adopted the mentality of retreat. Most of the team seem to have forgotten the standard they had to play to in their Premiership year; we fell off badly in the second half at Barnsley and from then on things have been slipping. I went to the game at Hull and it was dispiriting because we were utterly clueless until about five minutes from the end. Will we make up for that performance and shake off some of this gloom? To do so the approach needs to be more positive and we have to ditch some of the percentage stuff and return to more emphasis on good passing, possession and movement.

We've still got a chance but if we get up this time it'll be not so much through the back door as the cat flap!

What depressing moods we now have, and justifiably so. Last year I enjoyed the premiership only on the back of a brilliant promotion season, and knowing that we deserved better than 28 pts. If we do scrape through the play-offs, I really will not be looking forward to next season. I dont think we will get there, so what can we do to avoid a Southampton/Leicester situation? I would go back to United initially and try to get Ben Foster for another season. A talisman if ever there was one. I'd then try and find another Adam Johnson to provide the impetus and deliver the final ball. We do need another forward to replace Darius and the duke. Neither have really delivered this season for different reasons. So that is the prep. for another year in the championship. If it does turn out to be the premiership its an unexpected bonus.
