Give Larry a knighthood

Championship Blackpool
comment on the article

Despite our finances, our chairman, our ground and all the other factors that held us down for so long we have survived....I would like to propose Simon Grayson for a knighthood.

Or Manager of the Championship!

Stayin' up!

Hear hear! It was all too tense for me in my fifties these days in wet Wakefield. I forced myself into not watching ceefax while reading Stuart Maconie's Pies and Prejudice before "bravely" switching on at 3.58 precisely to see the wonderful news. Well done to Larry, the team and all the supporters who have seen the Pool playing their way to success in THE RIGHT WAY. Lets hope we can keep Larry and Wes, get a 15 goals a season striker and... do a bit of work on the "stadium". I fondly dream... in tangerine!

Just had to sign up to say WAHOOO!!!

I feel we have had a great first year in the CCC, and will go on to finish further up the league next season (despite what they say about second year blues).

Larry has done a great job, as have most of our players (come back Mr. D!), and really shown what we are capable of. Admist all of the banter between Preston and 'Pool, I can smell a mutual respect, and an excitement for next years derbys!!

Not to stray too far of topic...

Larry for Knighthood! applause

Ello and welcome to madhouse thai.
Yeps will we be a force soon to reckon with.
Early days BUT who knows what the future brings? 1st year sorted with minimal funds, WAKE UP KO look what we can do?.
Next season a few million off belk and KO doing ground? We could go a long way.

Congratulations from Fife, Grayson has to be one of the managers of the Championships after that. Time methinks to look forward to next season. Couldn't get to this game so just turned on teletext at 15.45 hoping for the best. Don't have any gripes with Leicester but can't say I'm surprised

Thanks for the welcome Ian. biggrin

I may as well set out my stall now as I'm tempted to post further, I have absolutely no faith in KO! I dream of winning the lottery and building the new stands myself.

Anyway, today's a great day, so I'll save my gripes for later. smiley

This team was always good enough to stay in the championship let me tell you that although at times its been tough. So now onwards and upwards! Congrats again! Looking forward to next season, meantime happy hols!!!

A sweet day after a long wrung-out season. At the New Year I said on these boards that the Sheff Wendies game would be critical, but it is ironic that the crucial game in deciding the final outcome was in fact our first game of the season - the away win at Leicester ! biggrin

If those 3 points had gone the other way.... no, I dont like to think about it.

Now to the D&G, the dark side of Leicester's demise is that they will undoubtedly be looking for a new manager. Holloway has been cast as a clown with his silly BBC 606 column - you can get away with joking if you do the business as well, but he is now regarded as the crispiest of flakes in the Walkers Stadium.

Who will Mandaric go for ? You can bet Larry is near the top of his list, as he has proved he can do the job without two brass farthings to rub together, and the Leicester fans love him.

Would Larry go ? I am not sure. He strikes me as being a thoroughly decent chap, very straight, there's no artifice with him. Not a badge kisser, but a restrained professional. And I think he likes being at the Pool.

But if he needed reasons, they are easy to come by:

1. He would be in a no-lose position at Leicester. First time ever outside the top 2 divisions? The only way is up.

2. He can work with limited budgets, he has a fine eye for the loan player. He can certainly build his own team right away.

3. The Leicester fans love him. Bounce back in the first season and he has the momentum for a tilt at promotion to the Premiership.

4. Success at Leicester will open the door to a Premiership club for Larry's career. He knows that the best way is to get one of the big jobs is to resurrect and restore a dormant city-sized club

5. The Mandrake can't be any worse to deal with than Harry Potter.

6. And lastly, look at the attendance figures. That's the crunch point. How can the Pool compete with Leicester long-term given our current shambles of a ground ?

I hope the Mandrake continues to be as stupid as he was when he thought Holloway was the ideal candidate, but I fear he won't be.

Come on KO, now you have to back Larry with cash for the team and the club with the South Stand. Or you WILL lose him in the close season ...

We all know he'll go eventually, but we want his skills to build long-term confidence and stability on the footballing side before he does go.

Hey up Jeep... Time for celebrating tonight!! I read in the NoTW that Ian Dowie has already approached Andy Bishop from Bury to be his first Leicester signing for next season... seems to me Milan and common sense are as distantly related as they ever were.

I think the management TEAM as a whole are important, not just one individual, and they have only just started there work here. I can't see Tony Parks ever leaving Lancashire, FOR ANYONE, so let's stay optimistic for the future.... C'MON YOU 'POOL... cheers
