ThotfulOfEbs

Naturally-born-gooner

I like Arsenal and the way they play football, but it is just a technique and there are some English players out there such as Joe Cole who can do it for the right 'expensive' price.

My point is that there is clearly a segment of influential English fans that criticize Arsenal for not having English players and that criticism has an effect on the team...

There is also the image and media value within England of having Englishmen on your team even if they are on the bench for some part of the season. That's how it works...

Thotful, you remind me of Enoch Powell. The gist of his "rivers of blood" speech was that he was not himself a racist, but that we should all behave like racists in stemming multiculturalism in order to placate the racists and prevent violence. Except of course Enoch was a racist, and everybody who knew him knew it, which is why it was the end of his career.
My point is this: you're not saying don't use foreigners because it's wrong, you're saying don't do it because other people (who are wrong) don't want you to. Thanks mate, but I prefer my club not to act like a bunch of cowards.

I think comparisons to Enoch Powell are a bit extreme.

I think Song has been very wonderful. Senderos just does not have the confidence for first team football. I think he could even fill in for Flamini as a holding midfielder. I think we need a Centre back, 2 midfielders and a poacher to be able to challenge competitively next season. Lucio or Micah richards, Krancjar, Ben Arfa, Loic Perrin and Martins or Villa would be excellent additions to the squad. Senderos, Hoyte should move on.

It is becoming a huge joke with this English thing. What part of the premiership is English. The 4 major clubs are owned by foriegners, there are no qualified English managers, even the english team is managed by a foriegner. We willhave foriegn players, playing for England soon.

In the eyes of some fans, ManU is an 'English' team because of the number of English players they have. It doesn't matter if they have foreigners, Rooney is there, all is well...

This is the way it works, no amount of logical argument will sway this large body of fans. It is not a battle Arsenal can win any other way other than bringing in English players.

If Arsene continue to persist with French, I for one will not be surprised if Arsenal goes without a trophy for the next 10 years. There are many ways to make a team lose a game.

So Arsenal will be failed unless then buy English players, and AW should be "clever" enough to appease these bigots by buying English players for any amount of money just to ensure that "the many ways to make a team loose" are not used on his team?
Truth is that you are right. But there is another way - one that always works - You have to be twice as good as the others to get recognition, and everyone likes winners. My advice to Wenger is do your thing, work twice as hard, and when you win - everyone will want to be on your side..

So what is the story? Who is leaving - Flamini? Hleb? Gallas? Gilberto? Sounds like Flamini's departure is a done deal - good luck to him trying to unseat Gattusso.

What is the verdict on Obafemi joining us? I am not particularly hyped about it - I love Oba as a player but for us, I don't see how he helps solve our problem, which is a real goal poacher to convert the many chances we create.

Hleb will be a great miss IMO because he is creative. Him and a real goal poacher striker like David Villa would result in so many Gunner goals. I hope he says.

I hope Flamini and Hleb leave. Flamini has done well and can leave with pride, Hleb is a luxury in an already skillful squad. We need more ray palours and less hlebs to be honest. I hope we get a couple of decent players-Shorey for instance should not break the bank.

So, you want 4 attacking midfielders across the middle.

-----------------------

Not really Boonting, I said realistic starting line-up. Not a dream starting line-up. That would comprise at least one class winger. But Rosicky does work well on the left, I'm not so sure about Hleb on the right but he's too creative to leave out tbh...

Arsenal completely outclassed Everton they made them look what they truly are ---- ALSO RANS PUNCHING ABOVE THEIR WEIGHT,Iam a MAN CITY FAN but when I see the table with one game to play LFC are 11 points ahead of EFC ha ha ha and to think the Everton fans really thought they could finish fourth ha ha ha ha they really are light years behind the ANFIELD club conidering Liverpool haven't played well but are still 11 points ahead of them. cast your mind back to last season 2-0 up with 20 mins to play EFC due to recieve £1m from Rooney's transfer clause if MUFC win the title Oh Everton's keeper decides to drop the ball in his net, Phil Neville scores an own goal when it was easier to clear hmmmmm. This season at Old Trafford Utd and Everton locked at 1-1 into added on time Oooops Pienaar inexplicably sticks a trailing leg out and needlessly conceds a penalty to United hmmmm I just discovered that EFC will recieve £1.5M if MUFC win the double, HOW UNFORTUNATE THAT EFC wont fail to qualify for the UEFA Cup , DISHONESTY OR INJUSTICE? hmmmm - BOTH!!!!!
