Millennium Madness

Super League
comment on the article

I've already seen plenty of superheroes walking the streets of Cardiff - and, no, I'm talking about Matt King, Joe Westerman or Kevin Sinfield. The Incredible Hulk, Spiderman and Superman are all here, ready for the action to kick off on day one of Millennium Magic. The fans of all 12 Super League clubs have once again turned out in force in the Welsh capital. And who can blame them? Six games over two days, with the bars and clubs of Cardiff just a stone's throw from the pitch. Is there a better venue for watching top-class sport?

Just a recap of the order of play for Saturday:
3pm, Huddersfield v Warrington; 5pm Castleford v Wakefield; 7pm Bradford v Leeds.

And don't forget the pre-match entertainment: Keith Chegwin hosting the Mascot Games. All 12 club mascots - plus Super Sid the Savings Pig (don't ask) - vying for the title of Champion Mascot 2008. A piece of marketing genius by the RFL? You decide...

Whether you're in Cardiff - and watch out for those giant seagulls if your are - or following the action on TV, Radio or Online, we want to hear from you. So come on, let us know what you're up to...

Not long to the big game of the weekend. You may disagree, but, after last year's dramatic finale, Bradford v Leeds has to be the pick of the weekend's matches for me.

Neutrals - which game of the weekend are you most looking forward to seeing? Or which game apart from your own side's match? I've seen Harlequins twice this season and they've scored plenty of points both times, so their match up with the Dragons should be entertaining, and I can't wait to see the Hull derby. That takes place tomorrow afternoon just after Hull City might possibly have earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history - if so, it's probably just as well for the employers of Hull that Monday is a Bank Holiday or there could be a lot of people phoning in sick ...

I shall be looking forward to Saints smashing Wigan.

But the game of the weekend was Leeds v Bradford last year so I look forward to that game above all.

Should be a cracker, hope the lads have got their long studs in.

Phil - just read your piece on the first day's action. Negative journalism or what? The match between Leeds and Bradford was excellent in terms of quality of tries scored. Far better, in fact, than any Union or soccer match EVER?

Perhaps you're just spoilt by watching too much RL and should go back to watching Villa for a while if you want to remind yourself what a very weak brew tastes like.

Bottom line: you've got the opportunity to promote our game on a national website and you've chosen to put the boot in on our tentative new show piece event: why? grr

the RFL new that it needed to commit to S Wales long term to reach the tipping point to turn S Wales into a league hot-bed.

It needs to be a 10 season strategy with a SL franchise if we are serious in turning the valleys over from the other code
