Bristol To Move To Wales?

English Bristol
comment on the article

I'm no fan of Bristol Rugby Club but surely this is a disastrous decision and will surely result in their demotion next year? They are in decline anyway and I would back Worcester, Newcastle and Northampton to do better than Bristol next year.

Any Bristol fans out there? What do you think?

Might just go a way to remind us that most of South East Wales clubs and West country English clubs have more in common and more shared history and rivalry than Welsh clubs do with Irish and Scots clubs and West country clubs do with the likes of Sale Newcastle and Leeds.

Another though here given that many Gwent rugby supports i know arent mad about supporting what they regard as a Newport team, and wild horses couldnt drag to watch the Blues. Is it possible that Bristol may pick a few new fans at the their time at RP.

The Bristol Newport game just after Christmas was always great and had been going on for years. Shame its all ended, maybe they should start it up again now we are going to be top to tailing in the parade.

What a lovely welcome - thank you all! I think there will be more than a passing interest from local guys when Premiership rugby comes to Wales and that will give Bristol rugby a whole new perspective.
The next two seasons will be hard but we have a solid squad with no superstars but what good has that done Newcastle? Richard Hill once again has bought schrewdly, Sidoli is a player I'm really excited about.

We lost a lot of traditional fixtures that fans loved over the last 10 years, Bristol Newport, Cardiff Ponty (Boxing day), the Babas easter tour and touring sides playing club and regional sides. Whatever anyone says about the EDF cup Cardiff v Bath, Newport v Bristol , these sort of games matter to the fans and although we dont have time for them in the same way there is a huge place for them somewhere in competitions that mean something to both sets of fans.

Rodney Parade is a decent RUGBY stadium and quite picturesque. Its nice to see two clubs working together like this. Sure money is involved but I think its a chance to mingle with new faces. possibly catch a magners match and a gp match on the same weekend.
