It's time to accept Grant's a good manager

Premier League Chelsea

Avram Grant has taken Chelsea to level with Man United in the premierleague and put Chelsea in a better position in the CL than they have ever been in their history. To the brink of their first CL final and win and the brink of their first Premierleague-CL double. Give the guy a break. You can't just say it's the players because Chelsea started with 8 points in 6 games under Mourinho, it was the right time to let him go because Grant has turned around the season and Chelsea have had as good a run as Mourinho ever had in the Champions League already and he still has a chance to go further.

Under Grant this season the league table looks like this:
Chelsea Played 30 Points 73
Man United Played 30 Points 70
Arsenal Played 30 Points 61
Liverpool Played 30 Points 58

To add to this under Grant Chelsea are averaging 73/30 points in the league which is 2.43 points per game.
Chelsea picked up 8 points in their first 6 and 6 x 2.43 is 14.6 points. And the start of the season was not difficult for Chelsea in my view, it was normal so this should have been maintained. So let's say 14-15 points instead of 8 and then Chelsea would have 6-7 more points (lets say 6) and the table would look like this:

Chelsea Played 36 Points 87
Man United Played 36 Points 81
Arsenal Played 36 Points 77
Liverpool Played 36 Points 70

The title would be in the bag.. and the CL is still on

give the guy a break the criticism aimed at him so often has been unfair and at times disgusting. As a neutral fan in the title race I will be supporting Chelsea because of the fact Man United have already won it too much for my liking and the fact that Grant seems a much better bloke than Wenger, Ferguson or Benitez. And I feel that the referees favour Man United.

A while ago pretty much all Chelsea fans seemed to not like Grant, has this changed?

Your thoughts?

Good article. I'd like to see Man Utd win the PL for a 10th time cos that's almost like a milestone and that would be fantastic for saf and giggs, it's only what they deserve. Yet Chelsea have done very well in general under grant I think. seeing as how utd fielded an average side on saturday (whereas Chelsea fielded a full-strength team), that may indicate that chelsea wanted it more (despite the barcelona game on tuesday in utd's case, I mean, come on! Ronaldo from the 62nd min only? shocking!) But as said, 10 league titles is fantastic, so whoever wins will deserve it. About the Drogba thing, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Benetiz a tad hypocritical? Torres falls down as often as he can, and Gerrard dives quite a bit too. Doesn't mean that Benetix isn't making a point about Drogba, I just think it's hypocritical. chelsea to win on penalty shoot-out.

This is now being linked from the story "Angry Drogba hits back at Benitez".

What they don't tell you is that Drogba went for a running punch to hit back at Benitez, but went down before he could make contact.

Drogba can hardly moan, he is the biggest sissy on the football pitch. He is even worse than Eboue which is saying something lol

What Drogba has said about losing respect for Benitez.. I actually respect Benitez slightly more for his comments
Nowadays you've got to be a brave man to come out with comments which are controversial, yet true, and I think this is one of those cases.
Drogba does go down very easily and although maybe Benitez shouldnt have said what he said because it brings about controversy and an attack back at him from Drogba, at least he has been bold enough to say what most people know to be true

I think Drogba needs to prove himself by not going to ground so easily, as this is a better answer to any criticism he could get than what he has done in response so far

To be fair to Drogba, he thinks diving is what you do when you put on flippers and a snorkel.
He doesn't realise that going down poleaxed because he trips over a blade of grass is classed as diving.

The so-called Drogba diving charge is a non issue, except for those who wants to make a mountain out of a molehill.

The truth is diving is a common part of the game, as is tugging another player's shirt, hitting and squeezing other players where it hurts and any other kind of oneupmanship one can employ to offside the opposition player.

Benitez's comment is just another example of this so he's no better than Drogba and might actually be worse because he's taking the moral high ground from behind his own questionable morals!

Liverpool fan here.

I agree - Grant deserves credit. It's time to stop reminiscing over Mourinho and give the man his due.

As for Drogba, he's in no position to complain.

lackery: "....probaly take pleasure in scoring tonight in more ways than one."

Really? What other ways is that, or do you know if DD is going to pick up someone for a "good night"?
