Would the sacking of Sven be all doom and gloom as it would first appear? Don’t get me wrong, I am shocked and dismayed at the way Sven has/is being treated but let’s look at the bigger picture……

Shinawatra has invested near to £150 million of personal wealth into the club to date. A very successful businessman doesn’t do that foolishly, do you think he would make a decision on a whim and risk his investment? Most certainly not.

The difference between Shinawatra and us, the fans, is that he primarily sees it as a business and then secondly as a fan. We are simply fans and think from the heart, so today’s news comes as a shock.

Yes, as fans we are completely correct showing concern, it’s called passion for our beloved club, but it would be no good if the chairman ran the club in the same manner. Like any business (which a football club is these days) unpopular decisions sometimes have to be made for the long term good.

Whilst not a football man himself, Shinawatra as a successful businessman, has put people with football knowledge and experience of the English game around him. Why do you think the likes of Wardle, Mackintosh, Bodek and others behind the scenes are still around? He knows his weaknesses and brings in the expertise to counter this.

We might not agree with the exit of Sven (and there is most certainly a case to be argued for him to continue next season) but we must place our trust in Shinawatra, the same way we have done with Sven.

Why? Because although a wealthy man, I am sure Shinawatra isn’t going to throw away a £150 million investment (to date) by making rash decisions from the hip.

"we must place our trust in Shinawatra"

I'd read up on his past record first.

Amnesty International should be able to assist you...

this is so ridiculous, if this was any other job then he would be taking them to court for being unfairly sacked. I think it's about time a football manager sacked like this stood his ground and took action against the club to stop this happening again.

There are hundreds of managers in football, but only about 20 or 30 are better than Sven. And not a single one of them would come to a club where the manager gets sacked after nine months despite achieving the chairman's stated aim.

A rich millionaire with a "questionable" background arrives at a top-tier team and announces a five-year plan to topple the status quo. He employs a reputable manager who proceeds to make a blistering start, only to find himself bizarrely axed, despite massive fan and player popularity.

If any of you are familiar with the Hearts saga over the last few years, I sincerely pray that you lot don't have to go what we've gone through in the last three years.

Can I add that these money men who have absolutist backgrounds should not be trusted.

I think we should give Shinny a bit of a break and see what he has to offer.

Let's face it, he only wants to ensure that Man City are as successful as they can be.

Even if it is primarily for financial reasons it will obviously show itself in terms of league position.

Simply put if he bring in someone like Mourinho and keeps ploughing in his OWN cash, who are we to complain even if we are fie-hard fans?!??!

shianwatra is the idiot of football he should be killed for doing this what does he think he is doing it is not like rijkard ancelloti roberto mancini although there has been speculation would jump know this guy is mad what was he expecting a top 3 finish although city were in that positon. but still you have to take notice of david moyes for example 2004/2005 they finished 4 2005/2006 they finished badly i think it were 15 could not make it in to the uefa cup let alone the uefa champions league but what did everton do they stuck by there man and where has he tooken them fighinting for 4 in 5 a chance to snatch it up today and he is a good manager imangine what sven could have done with more money and time hummmmmm possibly champions league and lets face it the players he buyed were hardly that well known you could say petrov was known gevonnani and bianchi but for me the rest no. he has also got them playing good football and now i tend to watch them.

Deportreturns - With respect, think u need to wake up and smell the proverbial:-

For Man City fans - You deserve/need stability at management level for your team to progress further which it undoubtedly could. Forget England, its not the same arena, Erikson is a good choice for Man City, with contacts and experience he can build further and has done really well in first season.

However I think it is very dubious and demonstrates the level and type of 'professionalism' that exists in football that anyone/business would employ/accept a person like Thatskin, who exiled himself from his own country, (this is an ex premier by the way), simply because he was wanted by his own legal system to answer 'alleged' charges of corruption,, bribery and other illegal money orientated matters, i.e. hiving off huge amounts for his own personal use as opposed to his country's. A F.T.S.E. company would investigate him and decline his application to offer. Football embraces anyone who has money or looks like they have money!. Says it all about the level it exists at.

What does he know about football or any other aspect of what goes on here. Whose money is it that he promises to use, if indeed he has any or can get his hands on it. Is the Man City thing just a smokescreen for his troubles at home as was allegedly the same thing about Abromovich initially to make him so high profile, he would not be kidnapped or other by the Russian dark forces who want their money back from his/but their previously state owned oil company .

Big money seems to be a dirty business, especially in football. Man city would be well advised to rid themselves of this Thaksin character as he will bring you down and set you back a long way with his personal problems and impatience and clear lack of any ability to listen or understand the product. These people are mainly about egos so big they unable to listen to anyone. Patience is a big part of football and building...I should know just look at Spurs!

DeportReturns, I have to be honest and say that your article is inconceivably wrong! There can't be any arguments of the greater good, or an unpopular but nessesary decision, when Sven and Thaksin had worked out a 5 year plan, and Sven was set to complete the first year goals with a position to spare.
This is a very unpopular decision because just about all Man City fans (as well as us non-city fans) know that there is no good reason to remove Sven. He's an excellent club coach and looked very likely to continue improving next season.

sorry i have to reckon its sven fault in some way shape or form, and i dont criticise Thaksin because i think he has good reasons we dont know about(or do depending on what you see of the mexico job), i do whole-heartedly criticise the appointment of Hughes, and ill only ever accept Sparky if he's still around in 3 yrs he turns down united and re-signs, but I see us becoming a laughing stock when he jumps ship.
