Formation for Wed

Premier League Liverpool

Did anyone watch super sunday the last word? Andy gray was explaining how he thinks Liverpool will set up on Weds night. I have to say i think he got it spot on. He said that playing crouch and torres will mean that gerrard has to play on the left like the arsenal game. Is he effective from this position? Also he said that it would leave us exposed through the middle as we would only have two in the centre against Chelsea three central midfielders. My personal belief is that the line up is already decided apart from one question who plays on the left wing position Babel or Bennayoun? But who really knows Rafa might gamble and try something completely different to throw chelsea. I would like to see us do what Arsenal did to us and attack with a high tempo at the start I dont think Chelsea will expect that. I just think the longer it goes on the better set they will be and more difficult to break down? Opinion ladies and gentleman will rafa stick to our recent formation or gamble on something different in an effort to out fox Chelsea?

Reina

Carragher Skrtel Hyypia Arbeloa

Kuyt Mascherano Gerrard Alonso Babel

Torres

So it'll be the flexible 451 - 433 formation which seems to work well.

Benayoun will come on if were winning and Crouch will come on if we need a goal with 15 mins left.

there you go....

Is it just me or is Babel better as a sub?

I'm hoping that he plays an attack formtion using the 4-3-3 and i hope he plays risse
Reina
Carragher Hyypia Skrtel Risse
Gerrard Mascherano Alonso
Kuyt Torres Crouch
Subs - Itandje Arbeloa Benayoun Pennant Plessis Lucas Voronin
1-1 Torres and Drogba to score
4-1 ON PENS AGAIN
Risse (Justice), Gerrard, Torres and Kuyt (score winner again)
Lampard to score chelsea's goal

Hope Pennant gets a good run out after last weeks performance

Babel is more effective in the cahmps as a substitute coz i think all of the goals he has scored in the champs are from the bench and that's where he is more potent coming in as a sub when ferreira or belleti is too tired

Hard to predict a 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1... but I'm expecting to see the following back line:

---------- Reina ----------
Carra - Skirt - Hippy - Arb

Knowing Rafa's penchant to surprise and the fact we need to push forwards I wouldn't completely rule out Rafa starting with a 3-5-2- or at least moving to a 3-5-2 if we haven't scored in the first 60 minutes.

Babel is effective even when he's not scoring because he has so much pace he changes the opponents' tactics. This is why we need another winger who does the same thing on the right. I think Pennant is underrated and I would like to see him start on the right--he can give the supply to Torres that we've been missing.

Hyypia's still solid but he lacks a bit of pace nowadays. Skrtel was probably our best player in the first leg!

Stonethecrows - spot on mate exactly the same way i'd go. Jamies been m.o.m every time he's played at right back this season in my opinion.
