I know it was a Team full of Reserves, but from what i saw i thought he did ok. But it still doesnt tell the whole story, can he really make it as a Professional Rugby Player.
Also if he were to make it, would that devalue the Sport in any way as his path to a Professional career would be seen as easy and straight forward?

Makes your sport look completely laughable that some-one with no experience in the game could walk into a club and get a reserve team place andmaybe even a 1st team placein time.

I don't care if he's another Eric Groethe, or Martin Offiah. He's a drugs cheat. Imagine training for the Olympics, ready for the highlight of your life, and you lose your chance of a gold medal because someone else in the race has been giving him/herself the advantage that you've not had. It's happened many times now. Many honest athletes will never have another chance. Why should cheats like Chambers have one after two years or less?

The reason he could be in with a chance of playing rugby league is that he's already an athlete. He already has a lot of the strength, attitude and he has the time to pick it up fast as it will be his daytime job. The learning gradient for him will be a lot easier than for an average person.

While he won't make it as a top league player - as far as a winger goes for Castleford, he could inject pace into the team on the wings leading to breaks and tries. Who else could catch him after a break? He has to work on some skills such as sidestepping and work on his tackling but as long as he keeps in position as wide as he can on the wings, I can't see why he wouldn't be able to make it as a weak super league player in a couple of seasons.

As for him cheating - so what? People make mistakes. Just make the club test him regularly if they wish to play him.

this is ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as the athletics , he was banned for 2 years, he's done his punishment, he should be running at this years olympics.

The Olympic Drug Games, what an idea!!! Maybe Pete Doherty could officially open it.

hairdryer... unlike ponte, it looks like you haven't looked at match official's profile... you may have more to fear than a ferguson rant biggrin

As for chambers, i don't begrudge him a 'clean' slate. We all know though that if this was, say christian malcolm, not dwain chambers, we wouldn't be reading about it.

Will he make it? I doubt it.

In all fairness its not as if league requires that much skill, physicality and athleticism is what makes league players successful e.g vainikolo.
