Liverpool Man City
comment on the article

THIS IS THE THREAD to discuss LIVERPOOL 1-0 MAN. CITY in the Premier League.

Liverpool have somewhat comfortably beaten Manchester City 1-0 at Anfield this afternoon, thanks to a Fernando Torres strike, just before the hour.

More to follow soon.

Why did Rafa pick a stronger team today against Manchester City than against Chelsea?
----------------------------------------
who was the players who made the team "stronger" then?

Did the florid faced faker and Stevie 'Me....going to Chelsea, or anywhere but Liverpool' play today? Thought so. All part of El Grosso's masterful tactical planning, which is to wait until your team is out of everything, then play your best team in a meaningless, end-of-season boring game. What did Mr. Goatee say in his programme notes today? Let me guess, something like 'This season we make good progress...Next season we win Premiership?' Oh yes, haven't we heard that before, many, many, many times?

Were Liverpool wearing their new kit for next season?? erm

I noticed the different kit so im assuming it is the kit ready for next season.. No collar with a white neck.. otherwise fairly simlar to their previous kit.

F Torres may have scored a world class goal (as he usually does) but the performance in my view, wasn't convincing enough. There were far too many missed chances and liverpool are going to need a player who can really play up to the standards of the no. 9 and can play along side him.

Show some faith in Rafa. I know he's been given a lot of time now (3 years), but I think he has slowly built a great foundation upon which to build....

I would keep him for another 3 years and see where we get. If we are in the same position then fine... give him the sack!

Look how long it took Fergie to build Manure....

Every year we have made some silly signings, but we have also made at least 1 great sigining.

Look at Torres, Masch, Skrtel (who I think is going to be a brilliant player for us), and Agger (unlucky he's been injured all season)....

We are getting there slowly - it will take another couple of years!!!!

"In Rafa We Trust!"

It was a very comfortable win, not least because City came with no more ambition than they showed at Eastlands (two shots in the 90 mins - both free kicks) and luckily Liverpool's lack of a killer touch in front of goal wasn't punished this time (although Joe Hart made two great saves and Kuyt hit the bar so it could have been 4-0).

I think that we need to sign probably another forward like Torres as they need to be more clinical in front of goal but I'd like to see Crouch stay and he should start more often. Barry would be a good signing (as well as being another English player) but it appears that Rafa has been told that he also needs to sell.

Anybody have any ideas who the latter should be? According to the papers, Riise has already been shown the door but I think that probably up to three others might follow.

Kewell - Too injury prone (has been for a while) and I think that he's probably run out of chances.

Voronin - I didn't know much about him before he arrived but I don't think he's going to cut it and should be released. He started off ok and scored a few goals but, apart from a goal a few weeks ago which I could have scored, he hasn't done anything.

Alonso - Has been a great player in the last few seasons but has had an average season this time and might be made part of the deal (with Riise maybe) to lure Barry).

If Liverpool could sign Bentley along with Barry, that would be a bonus but the two might cost £30m or more. It would give us some more creativity in midfield instead of relying on Gerrard as well as another source of goals instead of just Gerrard and Torres.

Rafa can only do his squad rotating if there is a big enough/talented enough squad. He will have to buy some new, good players and only then can he do this, as he tried to experiment with Chelsea on Wednesday and City on Sunday-just doesn't work.
