Raikkonen cruises to Spanish win

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen extended his championship lead with a comfortable win at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Finn is nine points clear of Lewis Hamilton, whose McLaren was third behind Felipe Massa's Ferrari.

Raikkonen controlled the race, while Massa held off a late challenge from Hamilton, who himself had race-long pressure from Robert Kubica's BMW.

Fernando Alonso's Renault, which had qualified second to Raikkonen, retired from fifth place with engine failure.

Sorry, check that, ITV will have to PRETEND HE DOESN'T Exist. He might make a good test driver for Super Aguri in a few seasons.

BenitezLegions - surely the Super Aguri test driver job would be too big for a driver like HAMILTON WHO BRINGS 'NOTHING' TO THE TABLE IN TERMS OF CAR SETUP

HAMILTON WOULD EXCEL AS A LOLLIPOP MAN - you know those fellas in the pitstop who hold up the stop and go sign when drivers are having a slap-dash - HAMILTON IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB

in 2007, Hamilton stood on the shoulders of Alonso the genius - with Alonso's forced exit, Hamilton has been brutally exposed as a car setup amateur totally out of his depth in the company of seasoned professionals (and by that i mean the Ferrari wonderboys - i'd put Alonso in the mix as well)

if i'm in good mood, i'd share some Spanish cava with Hamilton and McLaren fans as their champagne has gone totally flat so early in the season - no surprises there as the 21st century is incompatible with McLaren - what have they won since the turn of the century? - if there's any McLaren fans out there not sulking or hiding behind the sofa, please could you remind us - like HAMILTON, McLAREN are washed-up this century - sad but true

akaPhantom, be serious.
I'm the first to admit that Ferrari have an excelant car set up this season beacuse it's true. They've got great drives in Kimi and Massa (though, for me, Massa's season could still go either way). They look really strong, and I don't see anyone beating them. But in terms of the Hamilton bashing, come on, at least be a bit more intellegent if you're going to do it. Yes, it's obvious he needs some work on car setup, but this will come with time. He's already shown he can set up a winning car at the first race of the season, when Alonso wasn't there to help him.

50in50 - i'm not going to take issues with you as we all know what happened in the first race of the season with the Ferrari wonderboys - HAMILTON'S solo victory should not obscure the facts and give people the false idea that McLaren are competitive - even their sycophants would struggle to find a glimmer of hope in a season that's evaporated so quickly - i maintain the loss of Alonso's genius in car setup is a major causative factor - HAMILTON IS NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE - point is by the time Hamilton gains experience in car setup, Ferrari and the other teams like Renault would have moved up several notches as the competition in F1 occurs at break neck speed

So Phantom, but I can't agree with you...yet. Guess we'll have to wait to see how the next few seasons turn out before either pro or anti Hamilton fans can claim they're right.

That was meant to read "Sorry, Phantom". With the ammount of mistakes I make, I wouldn't even be allowed to be Super Aguri's lolipop man winkeye

50in50 - i can assure you, you wont have any job interview disappointment over the Super Aguri lollipop man role - Hamilton will be headhunted for the job - THE JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION MATCH HAMILTON'S SKILL-SET LIKE A GLOVE FITS THE HAND - there is no vacancy

FranDaMan - any reason why you left out the next grand prix in Istanbul - Turkey (11 May 2008)

PERHAPS YOU SMELL ANOTHER RESOUNDING DEFEAT - like Super Aguri, McLaren should sling their hook as they've been no hopers HAVING WON NOTHING since the 21st century started

I agree, I fully expect Turkey to be another boring procession behind the red mafia, but you should mark on your calender the dates of not only Monaco but Canada, Valencia, Hungary, etc etc. Oh, and don't forget Italy of course winkeye. I'll tell you what I smell, ANOTHER HOME DEFEAT FOR FERRARI!!!
