'd clarke is average at best...'
...........................................

I'm sure you are well qualified to make such a judgement.

'will never win a major just like rose donald poulter casey and the rest of the clowns.'
......................................................

You'd get good odds on that. I agree that Poulter is a clown.

'get a grip he has only beat a VERY VERY poor field.'
...............................................

You can only beat what's put in front of you.

Well done Big D! Top man, top golfer!

Well done DC. Thought he would struggle to win again. Shows an amazing amount of mental strength to come back from what he has been through.

Would have been easy for him to slipped into the background.

Not suggesting he'll win a major on the back of this - but if he gets back to his best he certainlt could. Big if though.

He is one of golfs great characters, a lot of people are delighted to see him win again.

One post decribed him as an average golfer.

That's at odds with the facts I'm afraid.

Darren has spent time in the top 10 of the world rankings, played successfully in the past 5 Ryder cups, has had several top 10 major finishes, and won 11 times on the European tour and twice on the PGA tour.

Average is not a word I'd use to describe Darren Clarke.

Let us just enjoy a good golfer returning to the stage that he has sadly been absent from.

The field was OK, the course a good one and a win is a win.

As for majors - unless his putting raises its game and he blows red hot, I can't see it.

I only watched the highlights but I can safely say that I saw Darren make more putts in half an hours highlights than I did in the whole of last year .
If the old flat stick is working like that in the weeks to come then he will win again .

The BMW Asian Open was a great spectacle and what a fine win for Darren Clarke. Robert-Jan Derksen deserves great praise as he was gracious in defeat but very pleased for Darren at the same time. The European Tour has a great atmosphere and all events are played in great spirit.

As for Thereev, I'm just going to shake my head. Clearly no one likes any of your comments.

Could not agree more with the previous words of support. The best sporting story of the year.

However, very little said about the closing holes. Darren's putting had gone with 4 to go. He put a shocking stroke on the birdie put at 15 and the 3 puts at 16 was a crime.

Amazing how he found the strngth of mind to hit the drive and second shot at 18 - brillient. However, he must of been odds on to miss the 3 1/2 footer back if the first putt had not hit the centre of the hole.

Hopefully the win will lead to his putting technique lasting 72 holes. He needs a few more good weeks and needs to show Faldo his putting can handle the pressure before he should be considered for the Ryder Cup.

What a finish!!.........absolutely delighted for Clarke, but God did he wobble over the last few holes!!

Thereev, the field was relatively strong compared to the Euro Tour year so far........

A fascinating duel between one of the best tee to green players of them all and Derksen chipped and putted beautifully over the weekend...

Well done Darren..........
