Jean Todt FIA - Bring him on.

comment on the article

Since I see Ferrari processions and an enjoyable F1 as mutually exclusive it may be a surprise that I see Jean Todt as becoming FIA president being not so bad a thing.

First thing if you look at Max's record on technology changes and judgments it seems he has gone out of his way to break Mclaren and Williams dominance of the sport and this may be partly because he is keen to be seen as independent despite being English.

I think Max is a very flawed person, but Jean Todt in fairness from what I know has done an excellent job at Ferrari and could not be blamed when he was on their payroll for being single-minded on their behalf.

The only thing that matters in my opinion is how genuine Jean Todt is. How can it be fair to say because he comes from Ferrari he will favour Ferrari. In truth if his special knowledge will mean he will be aware how teams bend the rules if they do, and the true nature of the advantages the big teams enjoy he may just bring us a more competitive sport.

Chrizy.
I totally agree with you about max!
As for the McLaren issue - the most incriminating evidence was down to the e-mails sent between FA and Pedro De La rosa which discussed tyre pressures and type of gas used in them amonst other details. I think Coughlan knew that they would not be able to get away with directly copying a part that was easily visible so instead they stole info regarding Ferraris techniques. Much harder to prove of course. I dont think that we know all the evidence that has been collected anyhow.

Anyway enough of that nonscence.
Who would you most like for Il presidente of FIA?

OK...
What maclaren had done is no different from what Ferrari & the others had done all the time...knowing what your opponent doing. In fact, an ex-Ferrari driver reported that Ferrari listen in on their opponent's frequency only to retact that statement after Ferrari 'talk' to that driver. And because Ferrari sits in the FIA, they are able to change that understanding when and where they want.

Thanks for asking the second question...but i truly don't know of anyone credible. But that person must not align with any participating team to be neutral. He may not neccessary be in the motor industry but must hold a valid driving licence...?

Oh really - provide proof then of everything you have stated here, in the same way that I have previously with the spygate discussion.
And not just your opinion may I add!

The only problem here is that there is evidence that you cannot comprehend the info given in the links that I have given.
Read through the FIA statement also. doh

Todt has been with Ferrari far too long to be independent enough to be an accepted FIA president. Imagine if last years McLaren/Ferrari problem came up again, he would be unable to take part without accusations of be biased. FIA needs a younger, vibrant boss who can think outside the box and not start personal fights to salvage his/her own ego like Mosley

Massirati, McLaren didn't steal anything. You need to get some facts: the tyre gas was not even "developed" by Ferrari - it's been in use with motorbikes since 2004 at Daytona and in MotoGP. Anybody can call up DuPont and order the SUVA-404A and related mandatory recovery equipment. The MSDS sheet is available at DuPont's Web site.

The gas was not even in the so-called 780-sheet document and, anyway, you can't just lift a part from a car and put it into one of a completely different design. "Ideas" have been traded "illegally" for years in F1 - it happens every time an employee switches employer... so nothing new there. Basically, McLaren got screwed because Mosely hates Ron and we now know a lot more about the former's character.

As for bringing the sport into disrepute, Ferrari & the Italian police, together, did a magnificent job of achieving that.

For a new president, I'd think maybe Ross Brawn, who is now "Ferrari-untainted" and probably the best manager in the sport, though I doubt he'd want the job.

Oh really! - the information that was in the document became known to more than the two main protagonists? doh
Even RD acknowledged that the document's (Stolen) knowledge was available to more that one member of McLaren team.

You acuse me of not having facts and then you spout your factless opinion! Quote: "The gas was not even in the so-called 780-sheet document"
Yes because you saw the document didn't you? doh
"it happens every time an employee switches employer"
Granted but this was not an employee switching sides was it, and it certainly was not a team copying a competitors part and using it themselves.
It was techniques that Ferrari use that could not be copied without cheating! Re. the e-mail exchanges.

"McLaren got screwed because Mosely hates Ron and we now know a lot more about the former's character."

Yes Mosley swung the views of all the members of FIA by his iron will? doh You credit the guy with too much power - imo
I dont like the bloke and he was wrong about the fine! They should have been Banned for the season.
They fact that they didn't was because of the lost revenue that they would have incured - imo.

No McLaren did that with their greedy antics!

Agreed about Ross Brawn - but "Ferrari-untained" ???
What chain of thought did that come from?

It amazes me that as the months roll past, the McLaren fans out there are slowly trying to play down the events of last year in an attempt to save some credibility!
If the tables were turned and it was Ferrari who were guilty of cheating you would be forever scathing them and RIGHTLY so!
It was not and the History books have been written.

Hypocrites!

I agree with you.

Ross Brawn character is best fitted for the post but I doubt any sane minded person will want to takee up that post, unless that person is Ferrari sanctioned. Remember that Max office was provided for by Ferrari & Max said Ferrari is F1...

Believe it or not, F1 is Ferrari's playground!
