comment on the article

Watford have received "a tentative approach" from a party interested in a takeover, the Championship club's board have confirmed.

However, the play-off chasers have denied that any formal offer has been made or is imminent.

A Hornets statement read: "The board confirms that it is in very preliminary discussions which may or may not lead to an offer being made for the company.

"There is no certainty that any offer will be forthcoming."

Do you think any sponsor or investor will want to rename the stadium? - seems to be the latest trend these days.

To be honest I don't care who owns us, Americans...Thai's...Arabs.

As long as they aren't in it for the money and give us decent money to spend, then what else matters??? Also hopefully they or he or she aren't going to meddle in the management side.

YellowToYou, Simspon might be the chairman, but word on the street says he only owns approximately £7million worth of investment. Ashcroft, on the other hand is in the region of £16 million. So I've heard, so don't verbally crucify me if I'm wrong.

Well one things for sure - whther we like it or not it'll happen if the board fancy it. And if substantial returns on thier money is waived at them who wouldn't?

What is important is IF new owners come in with some money (and we probably need to forget Abramovich style spending!) then who do they want at the helm spending it?

Aidy's transfer record is diverse and patchy. A couple of diamonds but plenty of failed gabmles. Would new owners entrust him with that role? Would they want a change?

In the end, our issue with the manager and if he should stay or go, would be out in a new perspective should owners actually emerge. Rehardless of what he achieves asomeone new might want thier own man in there. What a season! Its taking more twists and turns than a BBC2 play!!!

Lets put emotions to one side here, yes it would be nice to remain an english owned club, yes it would be nice to remain a family club, but the way things are heading there are going to be only two sorts of football clubs, those with millionaire investors and those without.
The former can buy better players and hope to compete on a higher level whilst the latter can at best, hope to remain static in their respective leagues, the 2nd option is that they get relegated, or worst case scenario go bust like Rotherham.
I have followed Watford through good times and bad (I must admit I prefer the good ones) and if some kind overseas investor wants to bung large amounts of money into the club, good on em. OK I know it's not that simple, but who on here, hand on heart, is not just a little envious when Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U can spend £20+mill on a player and not miss it?
Who dosn't watch Champions league games and dream that we could one day watch football of that standard at the Vic. (especially after the dross we have been subjected to this season)
These potential investors may not be in Abromavich's pay bracket, (though I sincerly hope that they are) but look how excited the QPR fans are getting about the investor who has pumped money into their club, if we cannot compete with them then who can we compete with? and do you honestly believe without investment we will play any better next season, if so you are kidding yourselves.
Ok an investor may well be in it for the money, but there is no use getting your knickers in a twist before the event, say what you will about Graham Simpson, but he is a Watford fan, and I believe he will want a deal that benifits his club, not asset strips it, especially after the lengths he has gone to, to get us out of the financial mire that we were in a few short seasons back.
I for one welcome Mr Investor, whoever he may be and hope that his wallet is fat, his pockets are deep, and his ambitions are huge.

As a shareholder, I too would like to retain an interest. We don`t know enough about who and how much yet. When that information is available we can make judgement calls. We certainly need more money to compete with even the bottom half of the Premiership. I await hearing from the WST on their stance when any offer is tabled.

Of course it'll be an investor, probably from overseas (but not certainly); look at Derby. Extravagantly bad, yet they're getting £55million for their troubles, so they've been taken over by an investment company.

By the way, Liverpool were run by a dedicated fan for many, many years, and although it may look like halcyon days now, fact is that we were going nowhere without the investment. Being a fan doesn't mean much nowadays.

Oops. Derby will get approximately £35million, not £55million. Still, it's a very attractive figure, whichever way you look at it.

i think it can only be a gd thing. graham simpson loves aidy hoofroyd and we can only get more money. it will be a shame if it is decided to rename the stadium but if it means getting into the premiership, it's worth it.
