Cardiff in Europe... where next?

Welsh Cardiff City

Regardless of anyone's opinion, the statement made by the FA and endorsed by UEFA is unprecedented.

There is no other club in Europe which is a member of one national association which fields and international side which represents a different national association in European competition.

Before anyone starts throwing in supposedly similar cases, let me clarify:

Derry City - special dispensation was granted by UEFA, AND they are members of the FAI.
TNS, Berwick - TNS are members of the FAW, Berwick of the SFA.
Monaco, Vaduz - Neither Monaco or Lichtenstein have national teams.

So, the situation is unprecedented. A member of one FA is allowed to represent another in European cup competitions.

Undoubtedly, this decision will start all kinds of minds racing. I think there are two possible outcomes, and the status quo is not one of them.

1. The Welsh FA and national team will be disbanded, and Wales and England will be governed as one, and field one national team.

2. Big European teams will petition to join the EPL, since they will be able to qualify for the Champs League that way.

Maybe in 2012 England will be represented in the Champions League by Rangers, Barcalona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

There you go again being a bit shady with your reply, " I might tell you mine".
I've got nothing to hide my username has a bit of my name in it, i'm a city fan and therefore i worked on that bases. Do you mean at last youre going to reveal your true identity???? I think not.
To answer your point and hopefully make you disappear in footballing terms Wales is part of England, has that answered your question. Got a chip on my shoulder, do you really want me to dig into your archives and find examples where you got a chip on your shoulder. I agree it doesnt look pretty.

What planet are you on?

That is such a blatant lie that you just cannot be taken even semi-seriously any longer.

oldsparkey, Thanks mate for your endorsement. I think I rattled his cage a bit, I know exactly which buttons to press.
What makes me laugh is that he doesn't answer any questions (I answered his) and he contradicts himself. Didn't he say he would respect peoples opinions whether they agreed with him or not, he gave a choice of answers and said he would respect people if they picked one, this was too tempting for me. I tested the waters he fell into my trap and as predicted he has no regards to anyones opinions apart from his own.Well done Arihfach for exposing yourself. Just on the record my personal view is Wales has it's own in dependant football team and Cardiff City play in the English pyramid. It's as simple as that, and no matter how hard you try will never change that. It has worked in the past and will work in the future as well. I don't need to explain myself to you Arihfach I saw a possible trap for you to fall into. Arihfach, you don't listen to any one else's opinions, you impose yours and except respect from everyone, you don't answer any questions, you point the finger saying people have a chip on their shoulders, which stinks of hypocrisy, you have a hidden political agenda and you lie, why don't you become a politician and leave politics out of sport.

It's Dafydd you disrespectful twonk!

Everyone has a right to an opinion, and opinions differ. Valid opinions deserve respect even if they're not something I would agree with. Idiotic opinions deserve nothing but contempt.

Your opinion that Wales is a part of England in football terms is so idiotic it is beneath contempt.

Read my first post again. It is irrefutable that this situation is unprecedented, and anything which is unprecedented by it's very nature sets a precedent for the future. There are all sorts of questions raised which I have mentioned in other threads which you choose to ignore which will have to be resolved, and the resolution will have consequences.

When's the election?

Dafydd (is that correct?) had better look over his shoulder - or is Ari really Dafydd (is that correct?)?

As one of the "two or three idiots that are egging him on", I stand before you humbled and ashamed. blush

As far as calling bravealex a plank, I think that is shocking and could be discriminatory towards planks.

I'll have you know I have great memories of several planks in the past that have enriched my life.

First, there was Max Planc, the inventor of the floorboard.

The dwarf Plank brothers. The two were not only very short, but thick as well.

Then there was "The Plank", brought to us by good old Eric Sykes.

But best of all was Politcal Plank - no one in particular, he's just the type who keeps ramming his personal beliefs down everyones' throats.

That election must be soon Dafydd (is that correct?)
