Just a few thoughts...

1. I really hope we don't disrespect the English anthem. Let's not forget that it's also the British national anthem and that we're lucky to have ben given permission to sing ours. The silent Ayatollah idea is good, just as long as it stays silent.

2. When it's time to sing the Welsh National Anthem, let's make sure we sing our hearts out.

3. It's been bugging me - why are we ditching our brilliant club crest, representing the modern days of our Premiership hopes and our FA Cup exploits and our new stadium, and returning to our dull old club crest from the days of languishing at the bottom of the old Division 3? Does anyone else think it's a bad move? We should be moving forwards, not backwards.

"Congratulations Cardiff, just shows the strenght of the second tier of football in this country."

The strength of the second tier of football in this country? Oh, right, it's called the Championship. The league that no one seems to want to win.

On one hand, you can say it's an exciting league, you never know who can beat who. I'll admit that much. Over the last few months, watching one team take over another at the top of the table has made me a bit dizzy.

On the other hand, you can suggest that no one team is actually good enough to take the league by the scruff of the neck. Reading did it a few years ago, and my how they ran away with it.

Now, apart from the top four in the Premier League, the rest of the top flight can play Championship teams and lose. (Yes, Liverpool and Chelsea were knocked out by Barnsley, but this is normally very rare.)

Cardiff gave a fantastic performance at the Riverside in the quarter-finals to beat Middlesbrough, and who says they won't be able to do it again?

But Championship teams, and even some Premier League teams aren't just good enough to be consistent. Not many teams string more than a few wins in a row.

Martin Samuels' column in The Times this past week put it perfect. He was discussing the top scorers in the Championship. Most of the top five played in the Premier League and have got on a bit. The only youngster there is Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and he was rejected by Manchester United.

Compared to other second tier leagues in Europe, the Championship is strong. It is exciting, yes, but that's because there is no one good enough this season to win consistently.

Regarding the Cardiff City situation, the Welsh national anthem should not be played. They play in the English league and represent England because of that, despite what their former captain may think.

When Torres plays in the Champions League for Liverpool, he is representing an English team, who represent an English league, which represent England. Not Spain.

If Cardiff want to play in the English leagues, they should be happy doing that. They worked their way up the ladder and got to where they are, kudos to them. At Wembley, one anthem should be played. Both Portsmouth and Cardiff represent the English leagues, therefore representing England and NO other country.

"not sponging off of our new 90000 seater stadium and using out public address system to play their music!"

O you mean like you sponged OUR stadium off us for a few years?

By the sounds of it, the FA needs fans there, cos Wembley is SOOO much in debt. So be thankful that our fans are going up there and spending £8 on a burger and soggy chips.

I would like to say thanks to the English people who have wished us good luck and the English fans who have accepted the situation.

We are NOT taking an English teams place in Europe........The English FA have decided to allocate a European place to the FA cup winners.......... so if by geting to the FA cup final we have "stolen" a place so be it.......if Barnsley had won the semi and had then been relegated you would have had idiots on here moaning that a 1st division side "stole" a premiership teams place. Cardiff are members of the English league and as such are entitled to enter the FA Cup and as a lot of fair minded English people have remarked should they win the cup they are entitled to the rewards.
As for the anthems well why shouldn't Pompey have the English anthem, Cardiff the Welsh one and come together for the British anthem? All this Cardiff shouldn't have this or be allowed this is all smoke and mirrors to disguise jealousy and racism.steam

The rules beg to differ though, for 50 years your club has willingly participated in the FA Cup for it's own financial reward, knowing that the rules state, should they win the Cup they were not entitled to represent the English League in Europe. Now you finally make the Final with a chance of Europe and you expect the rules to be changed, where is the fairness in that? Understandable why some may say you have 'stolen' a place.

Indeed. This is 606 after all tho, what do you expect. I have to say I was surprised that this whole Wembley thing was the best some people can come up with. But I completely agree with your post, not all of us Englishmen have suffered from short-term memory loss ;p(either that or the people posting these comments aren't old enough to remember that we used the Milennium Stadium, which also seems quite likely)

Come on Cardiff! Let's hope Hasselbaink rolls back the years for this one, unlike the semi.

All this furore over the anthems is laughable.

Both clubs are from Britain, it is traditional to play the British National Anthem.

No need for anything else.

......

Yeah, See Portsmouth this season

Cardiff have a decent chance, obviously they are underdogs but they were against Middlesborough and they played them off the park. I doubt they will dominate the final in the same way, but they will get a couple of chances.

We are representing the English League. Cardiff City Football Club is very much an English team. It plays in the English league, entering English cup competitions, completed against fellow English teams. Geographically placed in Wales does not hinder the fact that we play in the English ladder. I am an Englishman who moved to Cardiff 15 years ago, and have had a season ticket for over 10 years. The debate over the anthem is ludicrous. In 1927 both English and Welsh were sung, however the cup was known as "The English Cup" that was obviously changed to "The FA Cup". God Save the Queen is the British National Anthem. Wales abides by the Queen and her treasury, and does not even have its own parliament (unlike Scotland). It only has an Assembly Government with very little political power. It's all the egg chasers and remedial people out there who fail to observe the facts. Cardiff deserves the place in the UEFA cup, through qualifying through the FA Cup (if they win that is), and will be representing the English Football League and the FA, NOT the FAW, thus will NOT be representing Wales. The only sensible move for Cardiff City is to leave the FAW and become full members of the FA.
