I agree with steve_pilko. As a Gillingham fan I witnessed first hand the near miracolous escape, which only failed because of a contender for goal of the season (the referees in some of the away games, especially Leeds and Wolves, didn't help).

In particular his transformation of our away form was remarkable. Before he came our away could be described at best as average and afterwards a complete disaster. Yet during the months Stan was in charge we went to places like Wolves and Leeds and played them off the park and if it hadn't been for shocking refereeing decisions in those 2 games alone we would have stayed up.

In Stan Ternent's first season as Bury manager we went from 23rd in October to 3rd and up in May, in his second season we were predicted to finish 24th and we came 1st, in his third season we finished 17th in the then Division 1 beating Man City at Maine Road.

He went to Burnley and spent 8 seasons with them, 7 good ones, and got promoted there as well (I think it was the first season)

in all of 30 years of coaching and managing he has only once been relagated as manager and that was with Gillingham a couple of seasons back and they were already dead in the water by that point.

He knows Jeppo well. You've got a decent side and ground. He's had tougher jobs (e.g. Bury, Burnley) and he wants to get back to managing after Derby so I think he'll be alright.

I had a very vivid dream about Brian Robson being appointed, so Stan's the man for me. I'm sometimes so glad that my dreams don't come true.

DEFLATED ? Your havin a laugh Huddersfield is hardly a great job, nice ground though Stan will get you promoted which is better than most of your managers have done.If Mr Scally our fabulously tight chairman had any idea he would have paid him what he was worth and we would not be were we are now, dropping down a league with a blue square manager getting us back to his level! Good luck i like most of the other posts think Stan Ternent is a very good choice .

I'll put my money where my mouth is, Huddersfield will be promoted within the next 2 seasons. Anyone wanting a bet??? As a Bury fan i always saw Stan as an old fashioned type manager, not taking any crap from anyone, he gets 100% out of players and wont accept any less. He will also have full respect from players. I wish you all the best at Huddersfield and you will enjoy Stan being your manager!

i want it next seasonsmiley
but seriously if we beat luton on saturday-which we should- then we've finished the season 6 unbeaten, 4 wins in a row, possibly 5 clean sheets in a row. and we have more money to spend well in the summer, i for one wouldnt be gob smacked if febian brandy came on loan, apparently stanley has connections with SAF and brandys not going to be sold so why not? hes been at swansea this season.
look at bristol city in the 06/07 season, they went straight up in GJ's first season after spending well and finishing 05/06 well, it could happen, i just pray to god we dont f-ck it up for a 3rd consecutive seasondoh
