Wrexham Forever

League Two Wrexham

I am absolutely devastated that we have been relegated and I just can`t quite take it in that we are no longer in the football league. I will still be there next year no matter what and look forward to a promotion winning team seeing us back in the football league but for now I am going to look at some highlights from Wrexham`s glory days when we regularly did well in the cup winners cup and also the fa cup as I desperately need cheering up.

I have been to Wrexham only once to watch Wales vs Canada a few years ago and it was a great experience. Good atmosphere and friendly people. We also found a bar with cheap pints too before the game!

As a Welshman and Utd fan (Mickey Thomas connection) I have always looked out for Wrexham's results and am gutted they are down.

Hopefully they can bounce straight back up and be where they belong!

Gary, its called respect for the traditions of a great Welsh club mate. 87 years in the football league, you got to say that's a great achievment. There are other clubs that have gone down more than a few times in the past and come back up but Wrexham haven't budged!

the squad needs a shake up

Out- Richard Hope, Shaun Pejic, Michael Jones, Gavin Ward, Silvio Spann.

In- Profilic goalscorer e.g Michael Boulding or Andy Bishop. Young goalkeeper e.g Conrad Logan. another centre-back and a winger with plenty of speed and stamina, such as Isak Reid of Macclesfield.

Just look at the crowd on this clip when the goal goes in. These supporters deserve better than having a club owned by people solely interested in bank notes.

It's sad that Wrexham are going out of the league, but that's what promotion and relegation is all about.
If you finish in the bottom two, you're down.
Let's face it, Wrexham have been dire this season, losing to teams just above them.
They won't find it easy to get back in.

This out pooring of grief by all these clubs shocks me. Sure you've got a history so have loads of clubs, but you finished bottom of the league previously and avioded your punishment.

How did we avoid our so called punishment? I'd like to hear how you reckon it! As there had already been an announcement, pre season that there would be no relegation that season. But there would be the usual 1 team promoted. This was in order to bring the league back up to the required numbers, after Aldershot went out of business! Next you'll be coming out with the usual rubbish about us only spending 1 season in the old 2nd division! (Championship!)

I don't want to fuel the discussion in favour of the anti-Wrexham posters in this thread but I don't think your facts are right about why there was no relegation the season we finished bottom.

We were bottom in 90/91 and Aldershot failed to fullfill their fixture list in 91/92 going out of business after 36 games. Maidstone Utd also withdrew at the end of 91/92. Wrexham finsihed 14th in 91/92 and Barnet were promoted from the Conference. The reason I have seen is detailed @ http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Wrexham/Wrexham.htm, all to do with restructuring of the league and was announced before that season started.

Interestingly, Darlington were promoted to Div3 in 90/91 having bounced straight back up from the conference the previous season after relegation to it in 88/89 so there is hope for us.

My appologies for the use of the word punishment. Ok so you knew at the start of the season, there were no relegations, so what are you saying your players would have tried harder had there been?

Anyway thats kind of missing the point, I was trying to point out that the view of what a historic club that has added so much to our league is a little flawed when you view that season, last season and this season aren't included in that arguement and that really only three or four clubs could ever expect to represent wales in the cup winners cup! Undoubtedly this is seen as Wrexham bashing, but it's not I'm not even sure about my own clubs safety and I'll be gutted if we get relegated again, all I'm saying is all clubs have got some glory seasons. I wouldn't want people talking about how we had been league cup semi finalists. We'd deserve it! It goes to make the league stronger if its poorest side drop out. Still I'll be shot down for that no doubt, even though in my opinion the loss of Oxford and Carlise was far bigger for the football league!

I am not a Wrexham fan, but I am sad to see them lose there football league membership. As a Wolves fan I remember what it is like to languish at the base of the fourth division, praying for a miracle. Obviously, we got it. Sadly Wrexham have not- yet!

I may be jumping to conclusions here. But Wrexham I believe can still finish 23rd? And there is doubt whether Rotherham will still exist at the close of the season. My understanding of the rules is that in that event, Rotherham's membership will be passed to the team which finished 23rd, effectively negating one of the relegation spots.
Do not get me wrong, I am not a Rotherham hater, and hope they come through this crisis. But should they not, there may still be a glimmer of hope for Wrexham.

Should it not, I see that Newport are in with a good chance of finishing in the play-offs of the conference south. You may yet have a Welsh derby fixture next season in the conference premier.
