Point of order: Isn't MW now managed by Ann Neal?

Captain Jag,
I've got to ask this question, at the end of last year there were seats available at McLaren, Renault, and BMW, (Heidfeld didn't re sign until late in the season,Why wasn't Webber snapped up? there was even talk of DC or Webber being replaced by Vettel.
Don't say he had a contract, because if any of those three wanted him he would have gone, And I'm sure Horner would have given him the opportunity to go to a top team.
I think like a couple others on here, he's talked himself out of a top drive.
(It's only my opinion I don't hate Webber)

Fremantlespurs,

Don't say he had a contract? But he did. With Red Bull. What else can be said?

Great drive again Mark. Three on the trot mate, the season is shaping up very nicely! Just some questions on the new KERS being introduced next year. What's your opinion of the system and how is Red Bull's KERS shaping up? Do you expect to make further gains on the front runners with this new technology?

Good luck in Turkey mate.

Afternoon fremantlespurs.
McLaren had Lewis and wanted another young guy to develop / groom. Renault couldn't wait to get Fernando back (rightly so), but I agree that MW probably did talk himself out of a BMW seat. DC is probably in his last season with RB or any other of the middle ranking teams. Webber was never going to be dropped by RB this season. On the subject of people hating MW is it because he doesn't tow the party line and does speak out (percieved as whining?) ..
Regards
Captain Jag

Hi Captain Jag,
Yes I have to agree with you, maybe people don't like the fact that he likes to speak his mind, a bit like J Villeneuve and "our Nige' I suppose, I guess what I was wondering though, was do you think he's missed the boat for a top drive? Obviously no one knows what go's into contracts, but do you think there would have been a clause allowing him to go to one of the top 2 or 3 teams if they approached him? I mean If he really wanted to go, Would RB have stood in his way? after all an F1 carrer is awfully short, Alonso was still contracted to MM but they let him go.(no point in keeping him if he wasn't happy)
Look he was fantastic at Jag, it's a shame back then the car wasn't great, but 2 years at Jag Williams and RB, do you think it's passing him by?

His time will come. And he will win.

Hi Luke,
I was noticing some of your previous posts, I can see by them that you are a huge Mark Webber fan, (& that's fine)But you say he can and will win & his time will come, My question is though, who with?
Surely sporadic wins with RB will be not enough to satisfy him. Who will take him & give him a shot at the title, I mean history proves it's either Ferrari & MM and more recently Renault.
If you really think his time will come, who with,? because with the merry go round with drivers last year, either BMW, Renault or MM would have been the best chance for him.
Do you think Red Bull can win the title?

fremantlespurs,

My comment that Webber's time will come and that he will win was merely one of hope. I'm positive he has the ability to win consistently given the right car, but whether he ever gets that opportunity is another matter all together. I think it's hugely unlikely that he'll ever drive for Ferrari; McLaren is a maybe if Kovalainen fails (although he's doing ok so far); and BMW is another maybe but they look to be pretty settled right now so changing things would be risky. I suppose Renault is his another possibility but with the incoming regulations for 2009, Red Bull may very well be as good an option. The team has made a decent step forward over last year and I'd expect this trend to continue with engine/driver/engineering continuity.

Can Red Bull win the title? I think we have to be realistic. They're not going to do so any time soon and their first target has to be BMW-Sauber. Ferrari is in another league right now and have the capacity and resources to adapt to any regulation changes thrown at them. As a Webber fan I can only hope Red Bull strike gold ala Button/BAR-Honda 2004.

Stranger things have happened.

Evening Freemantle.
Yes,I agree with you, I honestly do think Mark has "missed the boat for a top drive"
I think he will do his stuff, and he's doing it very well at the moment, with RB for another couple of years tops.
As you said the F1 career is short. What is refreshing though is not only the fact that he is willing to spend a bit of time on the racing fans (as here on 606) but he doesn't seem to be afraid to tell it like it is.

Well Capt'n Jag
there's no denying he's putting in the drives to get the points, mind you i'm finding it really hard to get exited about the grand prix's lately, making up places at pit stops is a real sham.
people were getting exited about Hamilton's pitstop strategy, thats really proving how bad it's become.
