O'Neil vows to try and keep Barry

Premier League Aston Villa

Martin O'Neil has said he is desperate to keep Gareth Barry at the club and will do everything he can to ensure he stays. Even Barry himself, although he said he was flattered, he said he is enjoying his football with us.

I mean if he were to go to Liverpool or Chelsea, surely he'd only be warming the bench half the time, with their rotation policy.

Many thanks Gareth for your loyalty to the Villa over the years,I think you have real quality and you should be allowed to make the choice which you feel will enhance your career.I hope the decision you make is to stay at the Villa.

pennant might be good for aston villa actually. depends on what o neils looking for from his attacking line up. pennant is a line hugger, who when he gets the ball can be good with it, and sometimes isnt. i think that villa might suit him- hed get the game needed to become much better then he is now, and hes not bad right now

Pennant?? Oh please we're trying to buy quality into the club!

On Gareth I mirror the thoughts of many on here im a massive massive fan of Barry always have been even a couple of seasons ago when he was the main target by alot of villa fans as being useless etc..more down to the crap around him and the managers...Anyway hope he doesnt go and and MON can buy well and get some faith that we can push for a top 4 finish! I would wish Gareth all the best though, he is right it has to do whats right for him and has been excellent to both club and fans.

Think main thing is to keep MON and get some more excellent players in!

Up the villa for todays derby lets hope GB gets a hat trick!

MON said he was desperate to keep barry at villa park.but is barry himself keen either.I guess its a big NO.He is one player who has immense quality and a worthy champions league candidate. For him to realise his ambitions he cannot hold the tag of a great villa servant and carry on.Though against villa i hope he leaves villa park and make it big at chelsea or liverpool.Go ahead gareth

I think it would be disastrous if gareth barry left villa park.We certainly do need to strengthen the squad but surely having a player of the quality of gareth barry would encourage other top players to come there. So please martin o'neil get this situation sorted quickly buy the players we need then i am sure a top four place is beckoning.
