Is Capello's hard-line correct?

comment on the article

England coach Fabio Capello has warned that players who miss games without a genuine reason are risking their international careers.

Fabio is on the mark. If we had had this attitude towards picking the players under the previous regime then we would not be watching the euro championships this summer we would be playing in them!

Why are so many of you including Gerrard in your starting squad? I love "Stevie G" but he disappeared in the France game. Too often he plays with his head down for England , which is fine playing Andorra when he can muscle a result all by himself but this style of play will certainly not be acceptable in the Capello regime. Unfortunately I think Gerrard needs to grab some pine. Club form is only part of the form equation, a players form in recent international games is also part of it.
As for the "Anybody but Beckham Crowd" Bentley looked positively average last time out. Keep dreaming some day some one will come along to replace him, but its not Bentley

Fabio is spot on as usual. He's an excellent manager and his style of management will suit england perfectly. No frills kind of football who wins stuff. Look at what he did at Real - no frills football won't win the crowd over as in Spain, but with the players that England have his management style suits perfectly. If England don't win anything under this guy, then there is nobody who can.

The cure for Stevie G and Lampard is simple, add a Liverpool and Chelsea crest on their england shirt and they'll play 10 times better!

I love this guy. He will sort out prima donnas like Bentley. For too long England have fielded teams of posers. Bring back players who have the spirit of a Stuart Pierce and when you cut them they bleed ENGLAND.

Bentley pulled out of the England u21 games last year citing "tiredness" and Stuart Pearce villified him.

And Yet Cappello, having made these comments, has already picked him for England....

He also picked Cole after the Chelsea Vs Tottenham 'experience', who really should have been made an example of and dropped.

Or maybe we are not at the European Championships because Croatia are a better team and proved why by beating us twice.

I would however like to echo one or two of the other comments that Capello may well sort out England.

So much is made about how England are not as technically gifted than the best sides in Europe. Yes this is true, but technical skills are only part of what you need to be successful. So many teams have acheived success on the back of hard work, organisation and sheer desire - if England could get back these once iconic traditional traits then I think they can be a threat at major tournaments.
