Here are some links to the HBO peview show 'Countown to Hopkins vs Calzaghe'.

Part 1 : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re_P...
Part 2 : www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C6e...
Part 3 : www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxY9...

Some interesting stuff there. Check out Calzaghe on a punch count machine in part 3. He throws ~1600 punches (tiny little arm punches) at a rate of 9 per second, made my arms feel tired just looking at it!

I think that JC will beat Hopkins but it is not going to be as easy as many fans are thinking. Hopkins is a very clever boxer and it will take Joe a few rounds to figure out his tactics. Joes strength of punch is underated though and if he catches Hopkins early on he could well be a KO voctor.

I always find it strange when elite athletes play down their opponents' achievements or abilities. Is there more glory in beating an excellent opponent or a poor one?

------------------------

In boxing I always find it strange when a boxer praises their future opponents, like with Hatton/Lazcano. As no one gives Lazcano a chance, Ricky himself has to big him up.

Enzo c said maccareneli would destroy haye. he was wrong.
He had three champions - he is now down to one. He still after the fight with haye says he does not rate haye. In what world does this guy live in ?

Now he gives bernard a walking stick. Bernard is going to return it to him for his own use on Sunday morning.

Bernard all the way. Joe is a good ambassador for the sport but at 43 bernard is a guy to dream to fight like at that age...steve collins said enzo m would beat haye - he was wrong too - now he is saying that b hop is too old .....lets wait and see - a couple of days and no one will ever talk of calzaghe whether joe or enzo

I don't believe Hopkins will knock Joe out. Joe has got off the floor before to win, once in the same round he got decked. He is far tougher then anybody seems to give him credit for.
If his hands can stand up to it, I would advise him to go for a middle to late round K.O.
I know he can and should win it on points.
Two problems with that: Joe Cortez is the ref and the fight is in America. If it goes the distance, Joe will be robbed of the decision.
Knock him out Joe!!!!

Steve Collins is no where near as good as Hopkins. Hopkins is a smart boxer who chooses hes punches well and looks for great counter attacking.
Id love to be as fit as him at hes age and i still rate him as one of the best boxers around.
He still should be champ i rekon he won hes second bout with taylor.
Calzaghe on the other hand is a good fighter Not Great but good sure hes held the title for 10 + yrs but he hasnt always taken on the big boys and hes not a mayweather or cotto. This match will be very close and it will go to the cards.

Got to say this...Hopkins by TKO...cuts. I think Joe will start well..but Hopkins is a clever fighter with two good hands. He will get inside Joe and rough him up....and if Joe keeps his arms low..he will get tagged...the longer the fight goes, it will actually help Hopkins. He likes to take his time...hardly ever wastes a punch. Joe will instinctively go forward...and that's where Hopkins can pick his shots. It's going to be a good fight though.

I was going to add what channel will it be on over here in UK but, oh wait, it will be on smelly Sky since ITV is only interested in Amir Khan.

your right newlordatomic! he has an iron jaw calzaghe! even if he does land a big punch he wont K.O him! and if it goes to points calzaghe will win it! he throws so many more punches and jabs far more than any of his opposition (over 1000 in his last 2 fights!) i.e. 'The Executioner' will be executed!

Calzaghe by points, maybe even a stoppage in 5 or 6. But let's face it 'securing his legacy'? against a 43 year old? NO CHANCE

Joe could have certainly gone down as a great fighter at world level, but did not fight the top guys when he could have.

Respect for his talent though, probably the best all round fighter at around middleweight ever from the UK.
