takeover bid collapses

Bournemouth's administrator Gerald Krasner has revealed that preferred bidders EU UK Ltd have withdrawn their bid to buy the League One club.

Krasner had announced last week that a consortium - later unveiled as EU UK Ltd - had made a successful bid and had until Monday to complete the purchase.

However, they withdrew after Krasner asked them to deposit funds in order to be given an extension to the deadline.

Krasner is now set to meet another potential bidder on Tuesday.

However, he has warned that he may have to sell players if no new deal has materialised by the end of the week.

If there's no bid on the horizon, the club should start worrying about folding at the end of this week

Bournemouth administrator Gerald Krasner
Krasner told BBC Radio Solent: "The bidder was due to lodge the money by 1700 BST today [Monday] which they haven't.

"Over the weekend they asked for an extension - I said if they lodged the money even if it was to their order, and released me enough to do some funding, they could have the extension until 22 April.

"They seemed to be upset at this and have withdrawn their offer. I am now talking to one and a half people - I know what that means! - about putting in a bid and I'll be seeing part of them on Tuesday.

"If I get nowhere this week I will seriously review player sales. If there's no bid on the horizon, the club should start worrying about folding at the end of this week."

Bournemouth, who have debts of around £4m, have been in administration since early February - a move which cost them a mandatory 10-point deduction, and may be a crucial factor as they battle to avoid relegation to League Two.

Why does Jackson join a consortium, put in a bid, have talks with the club and then leave the consortium? He is just a time waster.

Terrible news. Good luck lads and lasses. These things never resolve themselves until the last minute, because thats the best time for any 'buyer'. Keep hoping.

It appears to me people should be vetted before placing bids for a club that means a lot to people, this side of things is not a game. How about a dream consortium with old skool connections - Harry & Jamie Redknapp, Jermain Defoe, Rio Ferdinand and Darren Anderton. Surely these guys could muster 1 or 2 Million ?

Another day another non suprise..........why would anyone want to throw away good money by buying AFCB?

The town has the potential to have a big football club in the top flight, I can see world class players wanting to live in the area, Bournemouth and Poole are one of planet earths nicer placer to live......

DO THE PEOPLE OF BOURNEMOUTH WANT A CLUB OR NOT?

WHY ARE WE ONLY GETTING 5k AT HOME??????

Krasner is a joke! Why does he even bother to meet with these jokers. Whenever a deposit is requested it should be instant only after the deposit is made can the offer be accepted!
All this merry go round does is put off anyone that might actually be putting together a rescue package. The truth is that no one is willing to take the challenge on as there is absolutly no chance of turning the cherries into profit.
We require an old school chairman/owner who is happy to spend his cash for no return other than the odd cup shock & a trip to wembley for the JP Trophy if we're lucky!

Watch out for AFC Bournemouth & Bashley next season!

Sickening. Very upsetting for this club of my birth to be in such a mess. If these consortium's were serious about saving AFCB then they should get on with it, not pull out because money was required. I would of thought this was bloody obvious!! Christ! If only I had the money i would not hesitate for one momment. easy to say I know. As it is Im skint and can do sweet FA!!!!!!!!!!

Well i feel somone is waiting to buy this club at a bargain price, there faffing a round to get the cheapest price possible.
A football club is a great investment if you have the money. Take a look at our John Ryan, he bought the club i love when it was on its knees. Skint no players nor supporters. What a change now. But he had passion.
So come on. somone get your money out buy it give the good people of Bournmouth somthing to look forwards to.
Good luck

That's the last thing you need. Look at Gretna. That is short term. You need someone who can build the club so that it is profitable, and that means from the grassroots up. Players on contracts where they work in the community developing the club's support and community work after they've finished training. People who have marketing and business skills to bring in money 300 days a year, not just 23. And a fanbase that is interested in supporting its team - any product that does not have customers goes bust. If your product is not wanted you will not be there.
