pedrozinho (U11635593) posted Apr 16, 2008 I think we will struggle to some extent this season. When Warne didn't play, we noticeably lost that certain x-factor in our play, and the team looks a bit short of leaders. Losing Udal as well is a massive blow to the spin department and expecting Lamb and Dawson to shoulder the burden and take a lot of wickets is asking a lot of a guy who is really only a back up bowler, and one who has hardly any first-class experience. Plus, Tremlett and Bond (potentially one of the best opening pairings in the country) are both hugely injury prone, Tomlinson is decent but nothing more and Balcombe and Griffiths again lack experience. At least we should see some youngsters get their chance and develop, but I can't see us challenging for too much this season, but I think we'll be good enough for 5th.

st_brendy (U11001106) posted Apr 16, 2008 I've just read in the paper that while dimi's away with the IPL, jimmy adams will be captain. Firstly, can anyone confirm this - and secondly, what a strange decision. There are vastly more experienced options out there.

pedrozinho (U11635593) posted Apr 16, 2008 I actully know Jimmy, since he was a young lad at St Cross Symondians, and he has always had a very good head on his shoulders. He's a mature, bright bloke, and I think he'll do a good job if he has to. Good to see a Hampshire bloke do it as well.
