Day 3

Its was India's day as they defeated RSA comprehensively by 8 wickets.

The day started with Indian 10th wicket adding another 37 runs to overnight total. SA was mediocre in field dropping couple of catches in field and wicket of no ball.

With lead of 60, Dhoni again showed his smart captaincy by opening the bowling with Bhajji. That not only did restrict SA scoring rate but also got India early wickets which they have not managed in this series so far. Sehwag has produced brilliant spell by picking up wickets of Kallis and Smith in three overs before tea. Sharma then showed why he is rising star in India by taking two wickets in single over.

RSA were finally bowled out for 121 and positive batting by Indians made sure that match was over in 13 overs with loss of two wickets.

Well done to both RSA and India for playing fabulous series in right spirit. RSA was better team in first two tests but they failed on square turner.

Day 2 :-

Indian batting showed tremendous determination on an uneven wearing pitch by scoring 288/9. Jaffer was unlucky to be given out LBW and Dravid got an unplayable delivery which jumped like a cobra and hit Dravid on his gloves. Ganguly was batting star for India after making valuable 87 runs. Laxman played beautifully for his 50. Dhoni/Yuvraj scored 32 each but threw away their wickets at crucial times.

Morkel was pick of bowler of RSA by picking up 3 wickets with Dale Steyn also chipped in with three wickets. Harris should have done more on this type of wicket and his two wickets were courtesy rash shots by Indians.

At end of day 2, Indians would be slightly disappointed however by giving 4 wickets to RSA in last hour. SA would have tough batting job on day 3. If Indian pace bowlers can pick up few early wickets then they can setup nicely for Indian spinners to dominate.

Day1:-

India managed to peg back RSA to score of 265 all out after RSA was off to brilliant start on typical dead, low and turning Kanpur wicket.

RSA won the toss and decided to bat first on dry wicket which should turn square from day 3 itself.

Ishant once again proved his worth by picking up vital wickets of Boucher and Amla with indippers. Harbhajan bowled very well for his three wickets as well.

India will be hoping for brisk start tomorrow from Sehwag because once ball gets old it will be difficult scoring on this wicket with uneven bounce. RSA will miss spinners though and will have to rely on the pace trio to get India out cheaply.

All in all we are in for close test match with honors even at end of day 1.

India return the compliment and beats SA in 3 days

Well played India expecially as SA won the toss and batted first

Sehwag is very underestimated as an off spinner and has some major scalps. I knew India would win the moment Sehwag bowled Smith round his legs. A bit of deja vu as Gilchrist was bowled by Sehwag round his legs at Perth

Dhoni is a bold and positive captain but he should thank his tailenders for extending the lead to 60 to atone Dhoni's mad charge that opened the gate for SA in India first innings

Ganguly should be man of the match

And yes SC, Dhoni has tremendous beginner's luck as a skipper

Some relief as India retains ICC No 2 ranking in Tests, and now a tough tour of Sri Lanka

And well played SA!

They are growing as a team and will be hard to beat, and a headache for Eng and Aus - good luck to them

Well deserved win for India.

Ganguly and Laxman showed how to bat on this pitch.

Those who moan about the pitch ought to see only ODIs

Test cricket is about testing your skill and ability mental and physical in all conditions

Indians gave a flat pitch a green pitch and a spinning pitch Result 1-1

All credit to SA they were the better team in the series

I suppose it is a credit to the Indians that they offered SA a green pitch in the last test. When did SA ever offer a pitch that suited the rival team better?

Here, Smitty was even lucky winning the toss and not having to bat last on a pitch that would suit bowlers from the first day. He can't moan about the pitch or his luck.

The current SA team has a very strong pace attack. They are not missing Pollock at all. The real test though is Australia. South Africa's record against Australia has been pathetic at best. Hope they can perform better in their next series vs Aus.

Yes

The rest of the year will see a buildup to SA clash against Aus

Aus have a tour of WI and India and it will not be easy for gthem, as i suspect SA wil have a good time in England

Well said Medium-pacer.

I wish we have a pace attack like SAffers.

Despite the win for India, SA posted a real threat till th last innings where they batted negatively.

Extactly Senthil, I can understand Smith and Kallis batting slowly but De V and Boucher should have taken on some stroke play as they had lost too many wickets for too few runs, Prince was blocking at one end and it needed only a couple of 50 partnerships for SA to apply gthe screws. SA blew a good opportunity for a historicseries victory.

Free strokeplay play the ball not tghe pitch as Thorpe said, that is what saved India Ganguly and Laxman the strokeplay even Yuvraj and Dhoni contributed.

i dont wish we had the attack of SA as we have our own World class bowlers who adapted and bowled well in the conditions which is what its about, not how good you can be on bouncey wickets.
