Gillingham 1 - 2 Swansea Cityby Badfinger_Taffy (U2169089) 10 April 2008
Swansea are promoted.................... Its official. Yes Jacks, that is the news we have been waiting to hear for a whole season, Swansea City are going to be playing Champioship football in a few months time (albiet the rumblings of Leeds United's 15 points may hold some doubt for some ....... but not I). I was biting enough nails for the whole stadium Swansea Devil Dennis Oli put the Gills ahead on 22 minutes but the Swans pulled two back in the 44th and 45th mins from Guillem Bauza. Not a pretty game by any means, Gillingham were on top for most of the game but yet another away victory sealed Championship football for the Swans and added to Gillinghams relagation woe's. The victory put the Swans 7 points clear of second placed Carlisle This is like christmas come earlytaffyjack and the 86 points also set a new club record beating the 85 set in the 1999-2000 season. The Swans now need one more victory from 2 home and one away game to clinch the title of 'League One Champions'.This promotion is a testimony to the magnificent managerial skills of Roberto Martinez and his staff. His prolific footballing abilities have proven that he will be one of the best managers in this country and beyond. Promotion in his first full season as a manager and using a team assembled from minimal funds. Swansea City will definitely make their mark in the Championship next season, they will build on this seasons success and move on to greater things. Well done to everyone associated with the club; the manager, staff, players and fans all deserve Championship football. woburnsandsdon(FKA MKALP) (U10373714) posted Apr 14, 2008 prob my age im not 16- 20, have played the game in mk area all my life , including for a couple of teams who were at reasonable level, including buckingham, would have been good to have got into the higher tiers but backing was never there, one thing for me that is very good about supporting the dons, at wembley i bumped into lots of old friends from the village i was born in, all following the dons because Sam Baldock is from the same village and has worked his way into the team, through the youth side of it, we now have a player in the squad who was formerly with wimbledon and now have sam b a product of the youth team a good thing? imo yes
