The Semi final - Liverpool v.s Chelsea

European Football Chelsea
comment on the article

We didn't play at our best tonight, but a result is a result and leaves us with a rematch again against Liverpool. The difference this time however is bigger than people have realised; the second leg is at Stamford Bridge, not Anfield.

In the past few years, and in both of the Chelsea - Liverpool games, the team who was at home in the second leg went on to the final.

With Stamford Bridge being the fortress it is, I really think this could be our year!

Thoughts please...

Its time Chelsea supporters let go of the memory of Mourinho, because he's holding you back and clouding your image of Grant
+++++++++++++++++++++++

And that is the truest thing I've read on here in weeks.

JM's gone and by his own words it was 'mutual' so to me that means he didn't even fight to stay.
------------------------------

Thanks man! And theres more....

Chelsea and Mourinho were like any realtionship, hopelessly in love. One day, Mourinho dumps Chelsea, breaking their hearts, and Chelsea are unable to move on because they are still in love with Mourinho and noone compares in their eyes.

Come on we all know Liverpool get the luck ALL the way through the champs league. It's happened yet again this year.
The frustrating thing is that Liverpool aren't even that good!

---------------------------------------------

becksisgod23, what planet are you living on?

im a die hard reading fan and as southerners theres nothing we hate more than a bit of scouse, but even i can see that they are a good team. bad teams dont get to 2 CL finals in 3 years. bad teams dont draw at arsenal. bad teams dont beat inter milan. bad teams dont beat barcelona.

ur a joke and you clearly know nothing about football.
........................

If you can't see that Liverpool are the "JAMMIEST" team in Europe, then im afraid its you that knows nothing about Football Sir!!

Special Nights at Anfield????

More like special Refs!!!

First it was the phantom Luis Garcia goal and now the Penalty that never was!

C'mon Chelsea give this sub-standard, out the title race by Christmas, never won a Premiership Crown, GIANT KILLERS, the stuffing thats 3 Jammy years overdue!!!

--------------------------------------------For the last time, if Garcia's goal hadn't been given, Cech would have been sent off, and we would have had a penalty. So you got off lightly as it happens. Don't believe your ex-manager's propaganda.

It all depends on the games and the circumstances. If Grant was in charge of Chelsea playing in league 1, would you argue that a better win ratio made him a better manager than Mourinho?
+++++++++++++++++++++++

But he's not he's playing in the same league with the same players and they are getting better results.

What a stupid thing to say.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Its not stupid, it's just making the point that 'win ratios' mean nothing, it all depends on the opposition your playing and the circumstances at the club i.e. the trouble Mourinho had with Abramovich. Furthermore, the fact that Mourinho won titles, which I've said countless times tonight, again proves 'win ratio' to Grant don't mean a thing.

According to the fixtures on the chelsea website the first leg is on the tuesday, and the second is on the wednesday, meaning we have 5 days ro prepare for the cl semi, while liverpool have 3, and then we have 3 days to prepare for man Utd compared to their 2.

PERFECT

as long as we can somehow get a result at Goodison

Even if he is long gone he still likes to stick it to Rafa!!

JOSE MOURINHO has piled the pressure on Rafael Benitez ahead of this week's Champions League showdown.

The former Chelsea chief claims that the Liverpool boss needs to win some silverware this season as a return on the huge sum he has invested in the team.

Mourinho said: "What will they say when they realise that Chelsea spent about £20million on signings for the season, while Liverpool spend £27m on one player, Fernando Torres?

"Will they say Benitez bought success? Liverpool have to try to win all the cups, because the investment in the team has to have a return.

"The responsibility to win increases and that pressure can become intolerable."

An even bigger pressure is, Rafa vs Grant. We all know that Rafa is a better tactician than Grant, how will he cope if Chelsea do go on and win the tie??? Will he get the sack? Will he quit? Or will he just stay and make excuses?

This is a tie that for me is impossible to call. Chelsea have be beaten twice already at this stage by Liverpool but does that mean that this is 3rd time lucky for Chelsea? or is it just another opportunity for Liverpool to get another one over them.
Avram Grant as mannager of Chelsea has lost every 'big game' really this season, the Carling Cup being the main loss. Can he cut it in the big gamesa dn can Liverpool actually force a result?

Isnt it interesting though tha out of the four teams left and of the four remaining mannagers, Alex Ferguson is the only one who is not under immense pressure as mannager? The other 3 could all potentially lose their jobs at the end of the season.

you are i believe trying to justify benitez's results on a whole

benitez has made some awful buys

the squad is weak

grant has had a better squad to deal with and should have better results. united will beat any of you

puyol out, messi out, dinho out.

sit down and tell me united will not be in the final

------------------------------------------------
i heard messi will be playing and puyols back for the 2nd leg and with dhino being in such bad form atm they wont miss him too much ,, its still a very good team with some great games, should be a close game with hopefully united knicking and goin to the final and the rest will be history :D
