Tarver v Woods

No talk of this fight yet. Was just wondering who you reckon will come out on top. Saw them both going at it in the press conference on Setanta which adds a bit of spice. What you see is what you get with Clinton but honestly dont know what to make of Tarver, knocking RJJ out obviously made him but a prime RJJ would have beat him no doubt. B-Hop embarrassed and totally dominated him in their 2006 fight. Anyone out there really rate him and do you think its going to be anything than a 12 rounder on Saturday?

Interesting fight, this one. Woods is the younger man and a much better fighter than when he lost to RJJ a while ago. Clinton's also got the experience of fighting in the US after his defeat, something he's obviously learnt from.

But the key thing for me is that Woods just doesn't have the power to KO Tarver. Woods is a natural super-middle weight, which is why he's gone the distance in recent light-heavy bouts – great chin/heart but not enough sting. Tarver, meanwhile, has the skills and firepower to outgun Woods.

Too close to call, but I'd have to give Tarver the slight edge - even though my dislike of his arrogance pains me to back him!

It is a hard fight to call but I fancy Woods to scrape home on points.smiley

For me, it's got to be Tarver, as much as I like Woods. tko 10

Woods is a great guy and quality but not to the standard of Tarver. That said, he's already wound Tarver up and that may get Tarver go after him which is to Woods advantage! Could be a good one but it's not going the distance. Tarver if he's slick and Woods if it becomes a war!!

My prediction is for Tarver to win a close decision, but I'm cheering on Woods all the way!

"My prediction is for Tarver to win a close decision"

I'd be very surprised if Tarver wins by decision. If it goes the distance Clint should get the vote as he'll be the much busier fighter. Clint has a good chin and Tarver has a good punch. He's really going to have to land a good punch to win the fight and his condition suggests he won't have the speed in later rounds. Tarver to win early or Clint to win by decision. Come on Clint!

tarvers best years are far behind him and yes in his prime would have beaten woods. but after his showing against hopkins and with his age not doing him any favours woods will ware him down and score a late stopage. woods is up for this one......woods tko 7

I wanted Woods to win but credit to Tarver - he was the better fighter on the night - Woods gave it everything but Tarver was too much for him in the end and is a worthy Champion.

Looking forward to B-Hop vs B-Joe - it shud be a cracker - Will the Calzaghe Camp continue their downfall of 2008 with Enzo & Rees losing this year - is Joe Calzaghe next? Too close to call at the moment.
