Wednesday's Champions League action

European Football

comment on the article

Evening all - and what a night of Champions League quarter-final action we have in store.

Three of the four teams are from the Premier League, which should guarantee that at least a few English players will be on show.

Man Utd, of course, already have one foot in the semi-finals after their 2-0 win in Roma on Wednesday - but at least one English club will fail to join them.

Arsenal, finalists in 2006, play Liverpool, winners in 2005 and finalists in 2007, at the Emirates Stadium in a tie of huge significance to both teams.

In Istanbul, Chelsea play Fenerbahce, with Avram Grant convinced he can take the Blues to places that the Special One could not.

Given that none of them have an FA Cup semi-final to worry about this weekend, I'm hoping they keep nothing in reserve.

I'd love to know what you think would be a good result for the three English clubs - and any other thoughts about Wednesday's action.

And don't forget - you can follow all the action here:

You are right of course many players hated eachother off the pitch and played well on it Cole and Sheri is a good example. I am not saying you cant play well together all im saying is that it looks like they are letting it get in the way of the football relaitionship. I cant think of any other examples either but I would say Le Saux and Batty had a few things to work out aswell as ayel Berkovich and Hartson (was it !)did aswell. Its possible to play well together if you dont get on but addy and Bendnter dont seem to be doing it

Hey ichosky, the "History FC" thing wasn't even funny the first time so flogging it like a dead horse makes you look stupid. doh

By the way, if "History" is now defined as European Cup three years ago and a final appearance last year, you must have an interesting definition of modern achievements.

Then again, if one of us has to have the tag is must be us - frankly, you don't really have a history worth talking about against ours do you? Certainly not when it comes to the big European trophy for sure laugh One paltry final appearance, and a comfortable defeat at that.
Imagine the stick Rafa would get if he'd failed to get double Arsene Whingers tally of final appearances in three years, and win one while he's at it? laughlaugh
You're on your way out again, and I think you know it.

He moved to Spain and did what I knew he would ...score a million goals and pick up euro top scorer !! Theres no logic some folk just dont fit in and gel. But I wouldnt have him on the park next week unless everyone else was dead

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Good call, considering adebayor headed it down for bendtner in the last minute of time against Villa to get a point at the emirates
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure liking each other counts for much on the pitch. Sheringham and And Cole famously didn't get on. I know there are few more famous fueding footballers who always clicked on the pitch (sorry more examples fail me - anyone?).

Me and Gregory.
We dont like each other in person, but in football field we are good friends and i do pass the ball to him often. Becos i get tired by the time i push the ball through wings from my own defence to the attacking third. LOL

Arsenal are not favorites, but stand a chance. Remember their performance in the San Siro.

How does the draw pan out later in the comp.
Is there a chance of 4 british teams in the semis? We had 3 last year.
