Stevie Thompson - Time to go

Championship Cardiff City
comment on the article

I also support Rangers, so i was chuffed when we signed this guy. But it is pretty evident this guy hasnt got a clue.

He is slow, seems to put in little or no effort in and when he does get a chance, he misses dreadfully. (like last night)

Even Trev Sinclair looked better than Thompson up front, and he was out of position and upfront by himself with 2 6ft defenders marking him.

I think it says alot that we looked more of a threat when Thompson went off.

Btw well done Sinclair, Mcnaughton and Ledley. Good game last night.

I've always liked Thommo, the way he refuses to be bossed by big defenders and his workrate always seemed impressive if not always productive. In a way, i hope that the lacklustre performance against WBA was due to injury as unfortunately, any other excuse is not acceptable. He will probably get on the field on Sunday for the last 20mins or so, I sincerely hope for his sake that it's the best 20mins he's played in his career, especially after having blown 3 matches during Hasselbainks suspension, to make some sort of impression.

If he does come on versus Barnsley on sunday, the boo boys need to put a sock in it for once and get behind him.

On a more positive note, there were good performances against West Brom. Notably, Kevin Mcnaughton (Man of the match for me), Joe Ledley, Trevor Sinclair & yes Gavin Rae. Loovens & Johnson, good as usual and Enckleman is coming along, although i did feel that Roger Johnson was saving himself a little for Sunday.

Scimeca helped boss midfield when he came on as sub for the woeful Warren Feeney on the 54th minute on Tuesday and at least gives Dave Jones other alternatives on sunday.

Steve Thompson looks a bit like a Spartan..Pity he doesnt have the athleticism of one. He used to be a decent player but I must say recently he looks as if he's lost his "touch" if one could ever say he had it in the first place.

I gotta say I stuck up for thomo at the start of the season, he had a bad time with the injury and things were said about him being trsnsfer listed. He had his tiff with jones and I thought "good for you" he came back and scored and I thought he was going to carry on thet form because of his heart and desire to prove people wrong. That was not the thomo I saw tuesday night. He looked dissinterested and his touch was shocking. Everying he tried to do didnt come off and his control of the ball was also shocking. I was glad to see him not return in the second half to be honest but couldnt help feeling sorry for him. Time has come to move on I think.....but who would wanna take him on in this form, im not sure if even confidence can help him now?

It doesn't say a lot about the quality of player you guys have if Steven Thompson plays for you. He's the one of the worst strikers ever to play for Dundee United, never mind Rangers. And if it wasn't for the clueless Berti Vogts, he would never have been anywhere near the Scotland squad - even in our darkest days.

how can you say that when your a scottish football fan! cos dundee are class aint they?! and with thomo being in this form who is gonna want him, plus theres no transfer window atm. on top of that we are struggling for fire power with Fowler and feeney out, plus jfh was susspended and for some reason we got rid of Macleane in jan. to be fair I think we have a good squad who have done great to be where they are right now. are dundee in an fa cup final with a small squad?? ....um NO!

Dundee UNITED got to the League Cup final a couple of weeks ago against Rangers....um YES! And our squad is no bigger than Cardiff's I shouldn't think.

BTW - I'm pretty sure ST used to play centre half at times when he was coming through as a youngster. Always thought he was better there.

Any miss is abysmal, it's just that Thommo keeps having them.
Striker for sale, striker for sale, guaranteed 6 goals a season.
