Mido Injury - Blessing In Disguise?

Middlesbrough
comment on the article

OK, so you wouldn't normally be indifferent if one of your first teamers gets injured, but I've been wondering whether Mido getting injured is a blessing in disguise?

We have 6 games left, are nearly safe, and have a £12m striker who is short of "match fitness" yet isn't being put in the reserves.

I'm thinking that if Mido is out for the rest of the season it may well work to our favour in that it will force GS to give Alves that game time, and HOPEFULLY stop the predictable "punt it long for Mido's head" tactics that we seem to use every time Mido comes on.

Maybe him being injured will get the team thinking about playing to suit Alves/Ali/Tuncay and stop a lot of this high ball nonsense.

Lets hope he starts Alves at the weekend, I think we could do with someone with finishing ability against MU, because if we want to get anything out of the game we need to take our chances.

In sll truth, it's not too difficult to be better than Mido.

amr8506 i'm assuming you are comparing Alves goal record to Van Nistelrooy's when you say it doesn't prove anything to be prolific in Holland?

I dont see Mido as a big loss this moment in time, he needs a pre season and I think he will be a big asset for Boro next season as will Alves. I think Alves will score one or two before the end of the season and he will be the new Ravanelli next season!

Mido is a great football talent but he has not yet proved himself in Middlesbrough in any way possible ..i feel sorry for the lad knowing his true potential and credentials which he is so far away from since he left Tottenham ..I believe that with a decent pre-season he is capable of retaining his decent form once and become an asset to Middlesbrough ..we'l wait and c but dont judge him just yet coz he'l prove you wrong!!

I've seen a lot of Mido at Spurs and, when fit, he's a quality player.

I think iwz is right apart the Alves becoming the new Ravenelli bit :_)

I SMELL A FISH!!!

either Boro dont know whats up with mido or they aint telling us the truth!

Stress fracture to the pubic bone - never, ever heard that one before, kudos due! As for the hernia; is it the same one as before the fracture? im just hoping we've not dug up a new super sicknote!

As for Alves, the fella looks quality from what ive seen on the box - but i feel we'll need to involve him more, get the ball to his feet so he can influence the game and pull opposition players out of place rather than lobbing "killer" crosses and through ball his way and sighing when he doesn't Finnish them!

I don't see Mido as a great miss as long as Tuncai, Ali and Alves are all fit.

Alves may have looked good against inferior opposition. The test for Alves will be when he comes up against a team with an inpenitrable defence like Spurs!
