DREAMS (updated version)

FA Cup Cardiff City
comment on the article

I first dreamed of Wembley
A long time ago,
"You'll get there with City"
My Dad told me so,

But I never thought
It would take all this time
But the dream's coming true
Forty years down the line.

At Ninian in the Sixties
When Dad took me there
I'd sit on his shoulders
Six feet in the air,

Then as I got older
I went with my mate,
We'd stand on the Grange End
The singing was great.

Saw Tosh make his debut,
King John I saw too,
The great Ivor Allchurch
All wearing the Blue.

Saw Moscow and Hamburg
I was only a kid,
Then later saw Clarkie
Sink Real Madrid.

The QPR play-off
A fantastic day,
But still I thought Wembley
Was light years away.

We went and beat Chasetown
And Hereford too
But who'd have thought this
Was the year of the Blue?

We saw off the Wolves,
Did the 'Boro away,
And when we beat Barnsley
We'll come back in May.

We've all got our tickets,
Queued all bloody day!
But we should have had more
From the useless F.A.

There's eighty away grounds
I've managed to see
But never did I think
I'd see Wem-ber-ley.

Some people say that
It's only a game,
But,as for me there
Is only one shame,

It's that Dad won't be with me
Sat by my side,
On the day of the match
It's two years since he died.

I know he'd have loved it
It was his dream too,
And just like his son
He was Blue thru and thru.

The City are coming,
Thirty thousand and more,
A convoy of Bluebirds
Along the M4.

And so off to Wembley
On Sunday at eight,
I can't wait to go
Yeah it's gonna be great.

For forty plus years
I've been watching this team
And now we're at Wembley
I've fulfilled my dream.

Scull.

Just a quick note to say I hope the game today is a mega affair, and a great spectacle of proper British Football.
I'm a Yorkshire girl, but a blade not a tyke! so although I want the Yorkshire to be in the final, I want to congratulate Cardiff and Barnsley for the heroics in getting to the semi's. It's so damn refreshing that is isn't a Man Utd-Arsenal final or something equally predictable.

So GOOD LUCK Cardiff, but a little more luck to Barnsley! biggrin

Seriously guys, have a proper great day whatever the result, I just hope both teams rise to the occasion and give it loads, it's defo gonna be one to tell the Grandkids!

Beth x

peter enckleman you are the worst goalkepper ever to play in english football. his c**k up in the second city derby for aston villa in 2002 will never be forgotten. you disgraced yourself that night and you dont deserve to play for any team, because u messed up in the return leg on that horrible night at villa park in march 2003. not only did u mess up. i was against birmingham city,, not played for 10 years and you made us a laughing stock of birmingham. cardiff fans beware u do not want peter enckleman to play for you. he is absolutely useless.

the fact that dross such as Cardiff and Barnsley will display their (lack of ) talent and grace on a national platform will be an ambarrassment to the game and dilute the power and importance of this competition.no more,no less.

We don't want to see the Welsh in the FA Cup final. And especially not Cardiff.

Come on Barnsley.

Well done lad. Exellent work.

Sorry to slightly tarnish things, but it just sums up the depth of some people that 1 606er decided to rate this at 1*.

If ever a piece of work deserved 100% 5stars, this is it.
