England fan in peace here - just saw on Sky Sports News that Shoaib Akhtar has been banned for five years!!

How do Pak fans feel about this news - do you care, or do you think that this will obviously mean an effective retirement which will no doubt help more talented, if lest fast players such as Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul to flourish in his absence?

Thanks for reading.

This is very harsh. It is now better time for Mr. Chairman PCB Dr. Nasim Ashraf to get himself retire and don't spoil the assest of international cricket like SHOIB AKHTAR. Cricket is loved all over the world. This game need players like SHOIB who have the ability to turn around the game any time. I think Dr. Nasim should be banned fropm PCB for the rest of his life

so the boy enjoys a bit of a play boy lifestyle - no problem. Since when was that a crime?

He has spoken out against a bunch of old men who form a gentlemens club. The facts are that he has spoken out and been banned. The two do not add up.

The people who run Pakistani cricket are jokers.

Shoaib Akhtar is a real legened and his name should always come with Pakistani Cricket Team.
Cricket Board people should be less harsh and should learn how to manage their resources and people. Board should rather support its players than giving them a hard time.

finally, the PCB have shown a bit of backbone and took action against this overhyped, has-been fast bowler. Well done PCB!

Shoaib, oh Shoaib

After Imram Wasim and Waqar, arguably three of the greatest quick bowler of all time; you had a great opportunity to lead the next generation of bowling talent into the 21st Century. Yes you have had period s in your career when you have shone like a star, unfortunaltely your light has faded as quickly as your ability to control yourself. I am sad for you even though you have no idea what you have done to yourself. GGoodbye.

Five years! Heavens, that's a long ban. Imagine how long they would've banned him for if he'd failed a drugs test!

What?

Oh.

Right.

What was it, then, for the drugs? Two months? Back just in time for the World Cup?

PAKISTAN CRICKET BOARD'S BAN ON SHOAIB IS NOTHING NEW AND THE MINDSET OF THIS COUNTRY IS AS FRAGILE AND DELICATE AS BROKEN EGGS. WHAT CAN ONE SAY ABOUT THIS BACKWARD INSTITUTION. IT IS RUN BY EX-MILITARY ,DIPLOMATS AND CRONIES OF THE RULING ELITE WHO ARE USED TO THE EXPECTED DISIPLINE OF THEIR SUBORDINATES. IF YOU REMEBER THE OVAL MATCH DEBACLE...THERE WAS PCB HEIRARCHY PRESENT IN THE FORM OF A FORMER DIPLOMAT AND ALMOST HALF A DOZEN EX PAKISTAN TEAM CAPTAINS AND NOT ONE OF THEM SEEMED TO REMEBER THE RULES AND LAWS OF CRICKET. PCB IS NOT RUN BY THE CRICKETERS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE WHO PAY TO WATCH THE MATCHES... PCB IS RICH BECAUSE OF THOSE WHO BRING IN THE DOUGH ARE THE PLAYERS OF THE CRICKET TEAM , NOT THE PCB BOARD. THE PCB BOARD IS ALLEDGEDLY ? AS ANY OF PAKISTANI INSTITUTIONS..POLICE POLITICIANS CLERK TO TOP OF THE TREE. WHAT PCB HAS DONE NOW TO SHOAIB ..IN ANY CIVILISED COUNTRY IT WOULD BE CALLED ? AND CORRUPTION. WHY HAS IT FAILED TO REPLY THE CHARGES MADE AGAINST ITSELF AND ITS OFFICIALS. THERE IS NO LAW IN ANY CIVILISED COUNTRY THAT DEPRIVES A MAN/WOMAN FROM THEIR RIGHT TO EARN A LIVING. IF YOU LOOK AT THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE MANAGEMENT AND HOW GOOD MANAGERS LIKE SIR ALEC/ARSENE CONTROL THEIR PLAYERS SOME OF THEM MAY HAVE HAD VOLATILE REPUTATION PREVIOUSLY BUT ONCE THEY ENTER THE FOLD THEY ARE AS LOVEABLE AS A FAVOURITE PET. WHY CAN PCB NOT TRY TO GIVE HAND THAT FEEDS IT THE RESPECT AND CONFIDENCE AND SUPPORT THEY DESERVE. BUT ABOVE ALL THE BEST THING IS FOR ICC TO ENSURE THAT CRICKET BOARDS ARE FREE OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENTS AND FOR PAKISTANI PLAYERS TO SET THEM FREE AND DECLARING THEIR OWN BOARD AND RUN IT THEMSELVES FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT AND FOR THEIR SUPPORTERS.

Shoaib is a quality player. The Pakistanis that don't like him seem to be to square to have a proper opinion. For example, someone had a go because he drank, someone had a go because he went to parties, someone had a go because he spoke out....

The boys a quality player and like most quality players make mistakes. To get banned for 5 years and then taken to court just shows you what fragile minds Pakistani people have. The comments above prove it. Just be logical and whilst there is not much wrong with being emotional there is with being hysterical. I mean why is he banned again and why can't he play local cricket?

Crazy!!!!!!!

Good riddence! He may well be a talented man and will be missed but you cant have cheats and drug users in sport. What is it with pakistani cricket and why do they always get away with it!

Asif wants his hearing put back. Why??? Coz hes guilty and doesnt want to miss out on all that cash looming in the future.

Sussex want Shoaib......im ashamed of them.
