Monty's Chinese takeaway

Masters

According to the latest news Monty's feeling aggrieved that he's not Chinese.

Reason being? Well if he was Oriental or even Indian he reckons he might get in at no. 75 in the world rankings (there are at least three players below him in the rankings who have been invited).

Now I like Monty and he's entitled to his opinions but maybe some sweet and sour sauce rather than such comments would be better for him. He also points out that in 2005 he was 51st on the list and lost out to Shingo Katayama (then 67th in the world). Since I believe the top 50 get automatic entry then he had a strong case for being unhappy at the snub then.

This time round? Sorry Colin there are plenty of other players higher than you who have been ignored to give the Asian countries a chance to see their players in action.

He says he'll be "washing his car" when the Masters is on. Hmmm when it's dry then he can nip down (pardon the pun!) to the Imperial Chinese takeway to get some pork balls to go with his sweet and sour comments before settling down to watch the main course.

Never mind Colin, perhaps you can win one of the other majors in 2008 and then you'll get an automatic entry at Augusta next year. Problem solved

Monty complaining..............again. No point having him there anyway as he'll never win. When it comes to the majors, he bottles it.

We all know why monty isn't going to the Masters this year:

1) The Americans don't really have a soft spot for him. They let their supporters openly abuse him, which is a disgrace ( and shame on you Douggilee, you inarticulate!!!).

2) They are actually scared that he could win the thing!! As they hate us Europeans and any other nationality "beating them in their own back yard". This is all because of his Ryder Cup record though...

3) The organisation has rightly put money first rather than Monty. What is their choice? Monty for nothing or 3 others for $10 million each....

But the real reason is (and it pains me to spell it out) that he is not good enough.. Top 50 in the world, Plus geriatrics and other past-winners, Plus Invites = the masters field.

Sorry Monty, your not in that equation.

P.S. Don't be too disheartened, the TV coverage of the masters is absolutely shocking. Especially on the first two days. No front 9 cameras throughout. Be careful if you own an Asian TV company you won't get Value for money or a glimpse of your rising stars .....

It all comes down to one thing, the Americans want the upper hand and it has nothing to do with golf. Monty is right and anyone who loves the game knows that.

Fantastic..... let another pro have ago.... hes never done it, and lets face it if he was there its just too make up the numbers.... i know theres alot of monty fans, but come on, hes long gone, its about time he gives up his sponsorship to another (maybe) northern player and give him the chance to perform, come on guys your always chanting why theres no up and coming hagis eaters out there.... But what ever happened, even if he got in the masters, he would of still been complaining over something.... ie: tee time, or a camera man...
Brilliant, hes off the major scene.... nearly!!!

Golf is and always has been the one of the most money oriented sports. Professionals play for money. Their scores translate directly into money. All the main tours rank players by money earned. To complain that the sport is damaged by these money making invites is a bit rich.

‘isn't it an expensive membership to play for 6 months after US Masters?’

WeeAsterix

True, but you know that when you join, surely? The All England Club is also a members’ club, but members accept that they’re not going to get to play on Centre Court, and there’s still a very, very long waiting list.

The issue of women members is a separate one altogether, and I’m totally with you on that.

Of course Monty has a fair point, there is absolutely no other reason why the three players indicated have been selected other than TV revenue. I know Montgomerie has a reputation for being quite a sour character and probably justly so but that shouldn't detract from the fact that the point he is making is valid. Yes there are other players more worthy of inclusion other than him but the fact is, we all want to see the best fields in major championships and in this case that is simply not happening.

I used to be Monty's biggest fan and being a Scot living here in the USA i stuck up for him week in week out but i have to say enough is enough. All he does is complain. Well Colin start finishing in the top 10 more often, work at your game and you'll be close not only to qualifying for the Masters but you may win a major! All he does is make excuses. Get a grip man. Euro tour is fine and dandy but why did he not push himself and join the PGA tour like the majority of the best players do from Europe and around the world. Join the Champoins tour...your might win something!

now what would we all rather do...watch montgomerie all miserable on TV moaning or a happy far east player happy to be there and smiling a lot...think most golf lovers and journalists are sick of him and his whinges
