Which teams will do it?

European Football Champs League

Here how it looks for this year Champions' League quarter finals:
AS Roma -Manchester Utd
Schalke 04-FC Barcelona
Arsenal-Liverpool
Fenerbahce-Chelsea

Which teams will get tickets to the semi-finals?
Chelsea and Barcelona have got a quite easy draw and should easily have their tickets.
Arsenal-Liverpool is a match that can go either way, though Arsenal have my preferences.
Roma-United is the most interesting match of these quarter finals.Roma is in great shape and can still dream to catch Inter on the wire in the Calcio. They will play the first leg without Totti and this could be a decisive advantage for United.
I expect United to go through. The team is playing well, creating many scoring opportunities.Wayne Rooney scored a brace against Villa and this will surely boost his confidence.I expect him to score tomorrow.
For me, the semi-finals will look like this:
Barcelona-United
Arsenal-Chelsea

I'm dreaming about a 100% Premier League final....

the premier league progress in the champions league will have no effect on the leagues in spain, italy, germany, protugal etc. The english big sides are getting progressively bigger and bigger. They now all have enough players to rotate a lot and play in the premier league, campions league and take at least on domestic competition seriously (the players also have internationals).

But they wont ever take players from big teams in europe. They never do and only for one reason. The regulars at the big clubs around europe will be perfectly happy where they are and wont jump at the chance to play on the bench for a premier league big side, whereas they are playing perfectly well and are perfectly happy at for example barcalona.

It will however mean that european big sides (not the english ones) will have trouble getting players from average sides around the world where one of the brittish teams is intersted. but that will just mean that they will improve their youth accedemies. Then on the whole, the premiership progress in Europe is good for football. But could just make the gap between tham and the rest of us "small" clubs even bigger

English teams are the bestbecause they play in the most competetive league, yes it is dominated by the big 4, but teams like bolton can make it to europe, fulham can beat man u 3-1 away even though the teams are better than them, they get a real test week in week out which makes them better in really competetive matches when they have to fight for a win.
------------------------------------------------------

This is completely wrong.
The gap between the big 4 and those other teams is huge comparing with Italy and Spain. In spain anyone can technically compete with Barcelona; in England if you intend to outplay Arsenal properly, then you are mad.

"u forgot to mention they also scored 8 goals over 2 games"

Yes they did, but again it was 8 goals scored against an average Side, you think Chelsea would concede 8 goals over 2 games..??

Just alittle of topic, but I just read the article and how the Italians are calling us pirates for invading other european teams and stealing their youngers. I have one thing to say - this is very rich coming from a league that is full of corruption and teams cheating by fixing games. Come on before you point fingers at us look at your own league first. Sorry I know this is off topic but it boiled my blood and I need to vent.

---------------------------

Palermo wern't involved in the corruption scandal. And besides, why tell the Italians to clean up their act when they did - severe punishments were handed out and it's all said and done now.

Besides what they said needed to be said by someone.

What a dumb article.

Whay are english clubs succesful in europe?

Because they have much more money than every team - barring probably Barcelona and Madrid.

Even Newcastle's turnover is fairly similar to an Inter Milan or a Juventus.

Then there is the fact that English clubs can quite freely poach the cream of europe's academy system - signing talent, for virtually no compensation.

So in short, English clubs do well in europe for the same reason that the top 4 do well in the premier league. Financially, they are at a different level

The best in the world ha. How may teams from the premiership are still in the Uefa cup 0. How many premier league teams have wonnthe Cl in the last 20 Years 2 with getting to a total of 4 finalists out of 40. Ok they have 4 good teams in the premiership but lets see how many are in the final and who wins it first. As for the Uefa cup a dutch team knocked out Spurs a portugese team Bolton and Blackburn way back in september were knocked out by a cypriot team and everton by an italian team. So as the premiership have 4 very good teams thats were the depth ends. When La Liga was the best in the world Barca/Real/Valencia/Sevilla were all regularly getting to finals and winning them

A Man U v Liverpool final would be great, but I have the feeling Liverpool would find it very tough judging on form against United. A Chelsea, Liverpool final, well that would great! Bragging rights for the winner, but surely there would be a massive incident as there always seems to be at those kinda matches.

However i am extremly annoyed over people saying that Premier League teams are dominating Europe. Looking at the Champions League, sure all 4 teams in there. Good, fair enough. Look at previous years where there hasnt been 4 teams present? Lucky year maybe then. Then another look at UEFA, not so good in there are we, with Rangers the only British team left. This is slightly more disappointing, so not strength in depth prehaps? Finally lets round on our national team. All though their growing, we're not in Europe as a country this year, which for our footballing nation, is pretty bad.

I'm not being to pessimistic, but for me to dominate in Europe is to be in the Champions League like we are now (2-4 teams in the final stages, semi onwards), similar in the UEFA cup, and a strong England team, with strong English talent in the Premiership, to be in Europe and then the World Cup. That in my definition is dominating Europe.

However not taking nothing away from British teams in Europe this year, good luck, play good football and hopefully a win for us.
