"what?! who cares what ferdinand offered to do!"

I do. It is inconceivable that a drugs cheat would try and avoid a test, only to want to take it an hour later, and then actually take it the next day.

"he was told to do the drug test now, not an hour later blah blah."

No. He did not say "I'm not taking the test now". He left having forgotten to take the test.

"he was out shopping!! this shows that footballers think they are above the law."

No, offering to go back and take the test shows that he knew he was 'under' the law.

"imagine if we got pulled over by a copper who tried to breathalyze us, and we said "ah, don't fancy it yet. i'll do it in an hour"."

This is a terrible comparison for the reasons above and more. For a start, alcohol leaves the bloodstream a lot more quickly. An hour's sobering up would give anyone a good chance of passing.

"drug users are scumbags!"

Correct. You had to get one right eventually.

Why doesnt Chambers come to Harlequins, we are not a retiring home but at the same time we need some pace in our team....

"Remember Martin Offiah and his introduction to professional RL?"
Go for it Dwain and shut-up the knocking brigade. You have managed to bring the national profile of our game into the back-page limelight single handedly. What price the publicity alone. Luv it... luv it.

It won,t be easy to break into RL. at his Age. Having the speed is great but timing a
tackle and perfecting the passing does not
come easy. Also i hope he can duck "Stiff Arm
Tackles"

It was not the first time Ferdinand had missed the test, that is why he got a big ban. His said he forgot - but it is part of his job. Offaih was a lot younger and already a rugby player, Chambers is 30 in a week or so. I fear for Cas, it will be a lot of money that they could use on players and on the youth team.

Double standards, Hypocrisy, perhaps even the dreaded "R" word may have something to do with the negativity surrounding Chambers? He's served his ban, or done his time (as they say) so should be given the same "clean slate" as other drugs cheats.. We live in hope though..

sorry mate, i hope i have misunderstood you, but i can not belive someone is accusing genuine RL supporters of been a bit racist. He is nearly 30, no experience and will cost big bucks. I hope it is nothing more then a PR stunt.

the mad_thinker do you really know what happened with Ferdinand?? He wasn't out shopping he was there but refused to take the test because he thought he was above the law. His quote was ' do you know who I am! Get your facts right! This is from someone who knows!!!

Those who say he is now drugs free - Do you know that for a fact?
Pete Doherty can't run, he could have a CRACK at it!!
DRUGS OR SPORT - You choose!

I say good on him. He's a big lad and whatever position he plays in (especially on the wing!) I believe he will do well for Castleford who are... struggling to say the least.

Sorry mate, I had no idea that you were there at the time.

It seems the BBC must be completely wrong...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/3176004.stm

However it does raise the obvious question as to why the board didn't make an issue of this, and why they said he was not under suspicion as a drugs cheat. It also raises the question as to why Ferdinand asked 'do you know who I am?' (I mean they pulled his name out of a hat, they knew exactly who he was). Also, since players aren't required to do the test on the spot, then why did they make no more effort to persuade him to stay before he actually left.

But of course, we should all take the word of a nameless, faceless internet forum poster, instead of that of the BBC and all reason.
